Two options for powdery void rust: 1 Vacuum it out. 2 Use compressed air to fire the rust seeds into distant, unreachable voids where they will assuredly work their evil, which will result in more business generated. Always ignore option 1.

Really enjoy your work on the Datsun. I taught myself to fabricate and weld new metal to restore an old Vauxhall Viva that was our family car in 70’s, unfortunately without the luxury of a cutting of a bending machine like yourself . I was a complete amateur at the start but I was interested to see you work in exactly the same way I taught myself. Nice work, well done, on a car that has taken repairing rust and rot to a different level !Hope the customer pays up for your incredible work

I can appreciate the effort going into this, however I feel you are "papering over cracks" the amount of rust beneath the body panels shows this shell is scrap. You cannot replace all the subsurface structures because that would mean taking all the exterior panels off...such you have chosen not to. The amount of time and effort being poured into this is going to result in a patched body repair with unknown structural integrity beneath the shiny body panels. Good luck but I believe your wasting your time.... Skill is there though ..but
@yorkshirecarrestoration

Hi Paul, thanks for the comment and feedback. If the roof was not damaged, we would never have seen the inner sub structure in the state it is in. There needs to be a cut off point for a restoration. It is still structurally solid and just has the odd hole and surface rust. If you had a 260z car which was rust free on the outside, chances are it's the same as ours on the inside. Most classics are. Cheers

@@mertfox3488 We are willing to put the effort in to bring this car back from the dead. That is why we enjoy the challenge. Most classics are the same and basically what people do is cover over the rust with steel plate after steel plate and make a real mess. We are being fully transparent with our repairs and showing how to repair something that most wouldn't. If we didn't have the small hole (which grew into a bigger one) then we wouldn't have even known the inner structure was rusty in areas. In that specific area we sprayed rust converter and repaired the hole on the inner structure too.
