It might be a(nother) KZbin issue, in one video there was a glitch where the title graphic would be back on for a couple frames every 74 seconds, yours is a bit weirder, the intervals, if I'm not mistaken, seem to be 15s, 14s, 15s, 15s and then there should be another one at either 1:14 or 1:13 to match this pattern but there doesn't seem to be one? Idk, I've generally seen comments about/ the glitches themselves in some videos, it's a weird thing

Jamie this debate has been going on longer than however long you've waiting to post this video. Way before you even got this idea. What I'm wondering is how many ppl think trans ppl who get all surgeries to be themselves physically should they still be unable to go into their preferred bathroom? XD

I think it’s more about genitals etc rather than gender but it just seems weird for a trans guy pre ops to go into the men’s and get changed into sports bra (cuz binders unsafe) in a men’s changing room, unless they’re private cubicles. I just think sometimes customers may complain etc , that kind of thing. This also brings up safe guarding issues, since some people trans women are just pervs and other misconceptions etc etc .
@Kleineganz

I've made the same argument when it comes to the bathroom issue. These bills always seem to focus on keeping transgender women out of the women's room, they completely forget that they would then be forcing very masculine looking transgender men to go to the women's room. I don't see how that makes any sense!

Plus it involves the naive assumption that trans people can automatically be clocked on sight, that cis people just somehow KNOW if a person is trans... lol.

Whenever I see folk saying trans women should use mens toilets/changing rooms etc because "they are men" I always reply that I guess they want trans guys ~insert picture of buck angel here~ using the womens facilities. Most of the time that shuts them up, but one time someone replied to that saying that trans men should definitely use womens restrooms as they are just "damaged women who have fallen victim to toxic masculinity" (this was a woman who has known me my whole life, and has "plenty of trans friends") Edit: sorry if this seemed like a somewhat pointless comment, I've just got a lot of feelings lol)

IKR? Also what exactly do they think we do in changing rooms? All wander around buck naked and stare at each other's bits to make sure they are exactly like our bits? Whatever the logic behind it it is nonsense. If it's to do with our physical bodies then it's ridiculous because they're just saying "You can see it unless you were born with it!" And also that logic is flawed post surgery.... If it's a misguided sexual/pervert thing then why are they targeting specifically trans people? I mean lesbians should have to change with the men and gay men should have to change with the women and bisexuals and others beyond the binary will have to change in a dark room with no mirrors and blindfolded JUST IN CASE BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW! Or...just let people pop their gym shorts on in peace wherever they are most comfortable and just get on with our lives yeah?

Cis people (the type who believe this bunk, at least) have this weird notion that trans people are all cartoonish caricatures of burly men in full drag get-ups, and trans men are all just butch-looking women. They're totally convinced that they'll just KNOW someone is trans at first glance. Which... in my experience... naaah.

I came out as FTM trans in November last year and even now I’m forced to use the girls changing rooms (I pass well with my short haircut and the way I dress normally). I’m not asking to use the boys because I understand that it’s hard for loads of transphobic 15 year olds to see someone they’ve known as a ‘girl’ since year 7 however when I asked to be allowed to change in the disabled toilets I got told ‘no, you have to change with the other girls’. That stuff hurts to be honestly because why does it effect the school if I change in private? It doesn’t. It’s ridiculous.

Us gals like to hang out together and chat but my friend was always too scared to come into the ladies room with me and I was always worried about her going into the men’s room but she thought since she hadn’t started her hormones that she didn’t belong in there with me! I told her I’d rather her go in the ladies room and if someone says something to her I would set them straight that she is a woman and has every right to be there. I know I’m rambling but my point is this is such a frustrating topic! To go as far as asking for proof is a huge violation of privacy! I’m I’m Canada so I don’t know if such certificate exists here put the idea seems absurd to me! I hope the public shames them for such a stupid policy!

Actually in the South this biological woman was dragged out of a women's bathroom mid poop with her pants around her ankles by the police. Clearly a women. This is what this trans confusion is doing. No one knows who is who. Maybe we need badges to id everyone now. It's crazy. A baby died in a hospital because the pregnant person came to the ER with stomach pains but failed to mention they were not a biological male. So the doctors were treating for stomach ulcers. It wasn't until they did an ultrasound and saw that the man was pregnant and the baby was in distress. It was too late the baby died. So something needs to change.

Imagine if a rape victim goes into a biological women's restroom, expecting to be in a women's only space, and see a full nude trans person who hasn't transitioned. Think of how she feels, seeing male appendages, the same organs who hurt her. Can't you see that it a major trigger? Some rape victims experience seizures when they are reminded of these things. Are you going to tell her to "suck it up and deal with it?" This is is a tough situation, but if we are going to solve these problems, it needs to start with empathy and open discussion of ideas. All voices need to be heard! That's why I am a huge advocate for unisex restrooms, lockers, etc. There are probably plenty of men and women who wouldn't mind changing with trans people in the same rooms, and it would be better in this country anyway, since we are so diverse in culture, beliefs, ideas, philosophies, etc. Even just separate closed stalls would be better. I have 2 very young girls. When they go to swimming lessons they have to change with a trans women that still has male genitalia. There is no longer a space where my girls, and us as parents, feel comfortable for them to change. So by being inclusive, removes the space for the hundreds of women that frequent there, just to accommodate 1 person. Do you not see a problem here? Women's washrooms and change rooms should be for biological women. There needs to be a third washroom for "other" or "trans". Biological women have had to work long and hard for safety issues away from predatory men, a place where we could safely change or go to the toilets and feel safe. These rights are being taken away from biological women and give to "trans people". How can anyone "damn" biological women for wanting their privacy? This is so messed!!!

Honestly, the only way to enforce it is to ask EVERYONE who uses the changing rooms to show a birth certificate. Which is also outrageous, because no one brings that to the gym, so they'd end up loosing a lot of cis business, too, even if those cis people are equally uniformed about trans issues.

I would definitely not walk into a women's bathroom to prove a point, although the point does needs to be proven somehow. Making women feel unsafe in the restroom doesn't make me feel good, and it would inevitably be taken the wrong way. The headlines would read: Trans people invade women's restroom, not: Trans men forced to use incorrect facilities by unfair gym policy. Media at its worst is incendiary, and thrives on division. It sells more papers that way. Proper education and good media representation is probably our best hope of making cis people realize that policies like this are ridiculous.

What worries me as a parent of young teenage girls is the right for any biological male to use female toilets/changing rooms because he identifies as a woman. What is to stop paedophiles, voyeurs, flashers, perverts, rapists to abuse this right and make it easier for them to access female only spaces? It seems to be a knee-jerk reaction and no proper thought has been put into it to see the impact it will have on safety and privacy for women.

@@FronteirWolf trust me. I don’t look “like a biological male”. And it wouldn’t be a good idea for me to be topless in a room full of dudes getting dressed because I have breasts. Why would it not be a good idea for trans women to use women’s changing rooms? Trans women are no more likely to be predatory than cis women are. As for trans men, I cannot speak for them and how they’d feel in certain situations because I’m not a trans man and their experiences are their own. But I believe that they, like trans women, should be free to use whichever bathroom/changing room they feel most comfortable in.
@FronteirWolf

I'm not saying you should use the mens changing room or that you look like a biological male, I guessed that you didn't. A fully physically transititioned transwomen should not use the mens, and a fully physically transitioned transman should not use the women's and further more should be able to use what they identify with. But I don't think that you should just make a blanket policy that you use whatever you feel like. Maybe the the solution is private gender neutral options as well. There is a wide range of diversity in transpeoples bodies.

@@FronteirWolf I’m very much in favour of gender neutral bathrooms/changing rooms being added alongside the gendered ones as often as possible for that very reason. Maybe you have a trans man who hasn’t quite decided he’s ready to use the men’s room yet for fear of harassment, but isn’t comfortable using the women’s room? Or maybe a trans woman who wouldn’t be safe in the men’s room but doesn’t yet pass enough to use the women’s room without risk of being harassed or wrongly perceived as a predator? Or even a non-binary person who isn’t comfortable and/or safe in either one? Gender neutral changing rooms/bathrooms solve many of these problems.

I actually used to go to David Llyods in the UK when I was 16, before I started T and it wasn't an issue, mainly because it was all one big unisex changing room or you could use separate M and F one's if you wanted too. I don't know if it was my one in particular or this is a new 'arrangement' but it has no logic. Im currently 8 months on T and if I or even Jamie who has a beard, top surgery and bottom surgery went into the women's changing rooms without a GRC (because idk if he has one) it wouldn't be allowed and police would be called because a man was in a women's changing room. Also what are they going to do? ask every person who looks slightly feminine ie feminine gay men or just anyone who 'looks' trans for a GRC, im 100% sure people don't just walk around with their birth certificate or GRC if they even have one. its a laughing matter that they even think they can enforce it tbh.

I work at a YMCA in the US, and we have a community locker room which has a bunch of lockers and benches, and 7 separate little rooms, some with shower and/or toilet, some with only a little bench to put your stuff on. There is no nudity allowed for anyone of any gender of any age in the common part of the locker room. It makes it easy for anyone of any gender, or a dad and daughter/ mom and son or disabled person and support person of different genders to be able to get changed as they need to. I think every facility should have this. There are also "women's" and "men's" locker rooms, (which are not monitored for birth certificates and have a couple private changing stalls) but I like the unisex one for the added space and privacy it allows.

David Lloyd obviously want to look like they have a protocol and have everything covered but they are actually basing their policy on really poorly done research just to seem as though they are prepared for problems. The thing is that they are prepared for people to complain about transgender people but not for the fact that their policy is so transphobic and simplistic in nature. I’m really pleased that you covered this so that the discrimination is publicly recognised. So often this type of policy will cause distress but not be flagged up. Now that it is I know what to do. I will write to David Lloyd after finishing your video. I’m a fan of your videos and an ally of the trans community. I’m fed up with people being treated badly to appease bigots.

Hey guys, I’m just a bit confused and would really appreciate an explanation on this subject. First off, I want to clarify that I am totally supportive of trans rights, just confused of how this would work legally... I agree with what Jammie is saying and it would be ridiculous for someone like him passing as their gender to go into the opposite dressing room, but what would stop predators from abusing a law if it was passed that you can use your preferred room? I know that it is important for transgender people to use the correct bathroom/changing room, but where would draw the line from just having a man walk into a woman’s changing room? I know that this is a very sensitive subject, and I hope I explained this in a respectful way! If anyone knows how they would get around this issue, I would really love to here your reasoning! Love the channel ❤️

Not sure if this really answers your question, but laws forcing trans people to use dressing rooms of their assigned sex would just be easier for predators to abuse b/c a cisgender man could claim to be a transgender man who doesn't have a GRC and is being forced to use the women's changing room.
@xejune
@xejune 5 жыл бұрын
Predators don't care for rules or laws like who's allowed in which dressing room, they'll walk or hide into a woman's changing room regardless & probably give an excuse of "oh sorry, must've walked into the wrong room" if caught. (Also a lot of the time they're people who abuse their own power, so like a gym owner or a p.e. teacher, and they generally believe themselves to be above the rules anyway.)

I was nosey and had a look online, it's £140 for a GRC and i'm pretty certain no person will now WANT to stay at that gym and fork out that amount of cash just to "prove" to the gym they should be in whatever changing room. Everything you say makes total sense and the people who are making up these rules at the gyms literally just don't get it. I'd like to think they made an "honest mistake" and thought this policy would keep all their gym users happy, but yeah it really doesn't. It's just another barrier put in place for transpeople. So frustrating.

The problem here is if changing rooms are open, meaning if you are getting changed people can see you changing and you can see other people changing. If someone with male genitalia changing with people with female genitalia isn't a problem there, the that is an argument for open unisex changing rooms. If it is a problem then a transwomen with male genitalia shouldn't be changing in front of cis women aka she shouldn't use the women's changing room and vice versa.

I live in Oxford, Alabama and our little city made news here for something like that. The city council tried to put through an ordinance that could have sent transgender people to jail for using the bathroom that corresponds with their gender identity. Target then made a statement saying they would not enforce that in their stores and trans men or women could use the restrooms for the sex they identified with with no problems. Then asshats here started boycotting Target. I for one made a point of going to Target for everything! I even went just to walk around and look to show support. Thank goodness our mayor never signed it through. Plus a softball league threatened to boycott Oxford if they did as well and our city has built this huge new area of fancy field and stands to have some national championships games here. They would of lost millions if they didn’t overturn it. I loved watching them have to eat crow and lose because they were bigots. www.cnn.com/2016/05/05/us/oxford-transgender-bathroom-repeal/index.html

I think the issue is that when a lot of people think of a ‘transgender person’ they have this weird image in their mind of ‘a man in a dress’ (transmen and passing transwomen apparently do not exist in these people’s world) Maybe someone needs to point out to them that they are going to cause far more issues for their own company as well as anyone else if every transgender person actually used the changing rooms/bathrooms of the gender on their birth certificate because they would have a constant stream of people freaking out that perfectly passing men were in the women’s changing room/bathroom...ironically exactly what they THINK they are avoiding with the stupid rule!

I had actually been thinking about joining David Lloyd gym. Not anymore. Though, from experience, I’ve found that it’s not the places have a problem with trans people, it’s that businesses and individuals totally don’t understand how the GRC works. So I was asked by a sports governing body to produce one, two weeks after I came out and initially said I would need it to be allowed to compete with the men. Some education later they finally understood that not only were they not allowed to ask but my chance of obtaining one was zero. They weren’t against trans people, they were totally clueless about the process. Now, happily competing with the men and still no where near even being eligible for a GRC. And even a huge number of friends asked within the first couple of months if I had legally changed my gender. Again it’s lack of awareness of the process.
