Great flying!! Thanks for the stick overlay. I was just watching some of the videos I recorded on my vortex and noticed that even when I try to stay low to the ground I always end up gaining altitude. I've watched lots of your videos and I never would have guessed that you barley ever go above half throttle....I will try the same on my next flight and hopefully I will be able to keep it close to the ground like you. Thanks again!!

Manuel Salinas Thanks man. Yea... if you stick to one setup and just get to know it, you'll know what throttle position you need to be at to maintain your altitude. But hopefully this video clears things up a little.

Hey, Dude Thanks for this video, and thread. Videos like those You make or other pilots like Boris, Charpu, Skitzo, Mr. Steele ....is what got me into this hobby. I now also own a Vortex and almost got better then "OK" at flying Acro (Don't check my videos I would be ashamed)...However I still have alot of trouble figuring out PID's for my set-ups. I don't own the cobra motors and don't fly with 4S's and not even 5040's or 5045's. And I fly it with a Mobius. If I use Beeweb's pro-tune, I find them to soft and can't do any real roll's and quick flips etc. Rolls take like 2 seconds to complete...I used to fly 3D planes and I would like to get quick roll like you'r videos basically. I would like to be able to tune my quad to lock-in like your's and to flip and roll without the PID's freaking out while I'm inverted or anything...Any hints tips...TY

Hi UmmaGawd, awesome flying! I am flying with your profile on my vortex. I am starting to race in rate mode on my vortex; however, I have not tried to do rolls or flips on this mode. While attempting to do a flip or roll do you maintain the throw of the stick in the direction of the roll/flip until you pass inverted flight and start to center roll or aileron sticks pass inverted. I have no problems doing flips and rolls on horizon mode. Thanks.

Awesome man! I finally got my Vortex on friday and managed to get out sunday and this evening for a rip. It's a beast! Just wondering what your advice is with regards to flying in Angle mode? Would you be able to fly like this in that mode of does it require Acro mode in order to get the level of precision you're getting? I'm thinking maintaining a constant altitude is a good first goal to shoot for. Massive help to see how little you move the sticks, I tried focusing on that tonight but after seeing this I'm still miles off! haha
@ummagawdFPV9 жыл бұрын
Dave Beazer HI Dave. I don't and never have flown in angle mode, so i'm afraid I don't have advice to give you. I can say that flying in acro/rate/manual mode is the only way to get that level of precision. Well, at least until someone improves on the code. I say you fly for a SHORT while in angle just to get used to how a quad handles. And then flip it to rate mode and don't look back.

Thank you for the video brotha. I'm having trouble understanding throttle control for acro flips and rolls. I learned how to do them with a ps3 controller, my Android phone and a free rider app. In the app you can completely drop the throttle and still do the manuvers. So now I'm stuck. Lol 😃
@c4pt1n54no8 жыл бұрын
I'm sure you still aren't.... but just in case you'll need Airmode enabled, or have your throttle set as to keep your motors just spinning at their lowest possible speed, therefore keeping the PID controller active and your inputs valid (called Idle-Up)
@MadMarcWinnipeg8 жыл бұрын
c4pt1n54n0 c4pt1n54n0 Thanx man! I don't have my beebrain yet so I've been flying my Tiny whoop with the inductrix fpv FC and some 19,000 kV motors from Micro Motor Warehouse. Yes, oscillations like crazy, but just for now. Lol I used heli mode on my spectrum dx6i so that I could create an idle up switch and turn off the Gyro. It makes things easier to fly around, but I haven't tried any flips, rolls or powerloops. Is that a proper rate/acro mode that the fc has to offer and should I be okay to attempt to practice flips and rolls with it? 😊
@c4pt1n54no8 жыл бұрын
Mad Marc I'm honestly not sure what kind of throttle resolution the stock FC has to offer, but if it feels good with your radio-modded setup sure, but I'd definitely try it in a big space, maybe over grass just in case something unexpected happens.. I just got a set of supposed 19,600Kv motors from RaceDay Quads along with some PH2 HV batteries and Rakon Tri-blades. With the AcroWhoop it feels like my 250 quad, it's crazy.
@MadMarcWinnipeg8 жыл бұрын
c4pt1n54n0 c4pt1n54n0 Really? Wow! That is crazy! Acro whoop? That sounds like something I should check out.
@c4pt1n54no8 жыл бұрын
Mad Marc It's another FC like the BeeBrain, made by FuriousFPV. I like it because it has voltage and rssi telemetry to my Taranis, and has crazy overrated FETs driving the motors, so I could use it with bigger 8mm motors on another frame in the future. The v1 board had pads for an external ppm/sbus Rx to be added but I can't see any on my V2 which is shipping now. If you're only ever driving 6mm motors, all of the aftermarket Whoop FCs are pretty much the same.

I have to reduce my "P" around 2.0 and abuse of TPA under cleanflight to get it OK. Getting them working is another matter. Arrrggggg, I just wanna go fly :). BTW, Mark and I are trying to get down to Melbourne for that race in a fortnight. Tiny to find a flight that doesn't cost the earth...
@ummagawdFPV9 жыл бұрын
FinalGlideAus juz70 I didn't even update the FW on the OpenLog board. The default FW works perfectly. Just hook it up to your FC's serial port (tx/rx) and give it power. Then follow the config stuff in this link: github.com/cleanflight/cleanflight/blob/master/docs/Blackbox.md Hit me up if you have any questions or issues.
@ummagawdFPV9 жыл бұрын
FinalGlideAus BTW... the simplest i've found is to use the blackbox log viewer (which is just a web page) and then do a screen capture vs. using the render tools (because then you need other software to overlay it in your video

FinalGlideAus juz70 It is really much easier than it seems. Like UmmaGawd says....no need for updating the firmware from openlog actually. Just try it and usw the web based blackbox viewer for viewing files.

@JulianGoesPro9 жыл бұрын
okay, but not sure I understand you completely, you have a switch for the throttle cut as well?
@ummagawdFPV9 жыл бұрын
Julian GoesPro Yes... with the switch off... throttle is zero. Switch on... it's sending around 1175 to the motors. This is because the quad stabilizes better at that throttle input. This allows me to throttle all the way down on my radio, while maintaining what my quad needs to remain stable
@TheOriginalCheezWiz9 жыл бұрын
