I am so very happy that I came across this video. I'm 69 years old and I have had severe pain in my right lower back and hip for a solid year. My medical doctor prescribed muscle relaxants which did nothing. I went to a chiropractor, and he did his thing on my back, and it did nothing. I watched every back pain video on KZbin, did the stretches, and nothing worked. I had given up and accepted I would have this pain for the rest of my life. Your video popped up last week and I really was not going to watch another video and be disappointed again. I don't know why I changed my mind, but I watched it and tried the stretch which was totally new and different than anything I had tried before. From that very first stretch I knew and felt that this was different.....I actually felt slight relief. Well, I have been doing the stretch faithfully twice a day for 2 weeks and my back is so much better and progressively getting better daily. I cannot thank you enough for posting this video. I highly recommend it to anyone suffering this type of back pain. THANK YOU!

I want to thank you. This 5:13-second video saved me. I'm quite active. I exercise a couple of hours a day, however, I have a desk job and I sit all day long. My lower back was killing me. It got so bad that I hadn't worked out for several weeks because the pain was just too bad. I started these stretches, and within 2 days (I performed the stretch for 1 minute on each side, three times a day) the pain had reduced substantially. By day 4, the pain was bearable. By day 6, it was completely gone. Thank you.

I’ve been doing this stretch every morning for a few months. Got it from another physio’s channel. It took a while I think to really start making a difference. Maybe a month or so but it does help. I just fold my yoga mat in 2 so it’s soft on the knee and do 5 sets of 15 sec stretches each side. But I will try this guy’s suggestion of 30 or 90 sec or whatever and see which feels better. Light yoga is really good too. Improves core muscle strength, overall strength and overall flexibility. U can do it at basically any age too.

My back doctor and I just figured out yesterday my issue is the tight s.i joint and he was finally able to give me an injection in that joint so I can start to have my life back. The pain has been debilitating and it effects every aspect of my life! My quality of life has been in the toilet since this issue. I got most of the problems you mentioned. Years of back pain until the last six months. What made a difference for me was a guy who said “If a muscle is stiff it means it’s weak”. For me working the hip adductors and psoas have made the biggest difference. I found the muscle relaxers and massage/chiropractors just made it worse. Working my hip adductors makes it good. Don’t forget to work the internal hip rotation and calf raises , both straight and bent leg for the knees. Good luck

I have very similar issues. What kept me off the surgeons table was a company called DBC. They see the spine as a single organism . They teach you stretches and they run you through isolation exercises that target the core muscles and structures around the spinal column. They start you off slowly. They have around a 70% success rate.. What's really interesting ai that they encourage keeping active. So far so good for 11 years now.

I was told once, (maybe incorrectly) that I could accomplish similar results by flattening my back against a wall while slightly flexing my knees and keeping both feet just slightly forward. At this point I was to throw my pelvis forward until the pain is relieved. Is there anything to that method? I have tried it and seems to slightly relieve the back pain, but only for a few moments. I was thinking maybe I wasn't doing it enough. I need to try your method, although at my age (late 70's) not sure how successful I will be. Thank you for sharing this information. God bless you.

Using this exercise is a game changer and we love it! We also sit on Tush-Cush brand wedge shaped orthopedic seat cushions to help assist the lumbar back into its natural curve, placing our knees lower than our hips, and we love the coccyx cut-out that takes the pressure off the tailbone - we have 9 cushions in several sizes that we use in our house and in our cars. This stretch will certainly help us address that SI pain even more. We were told about the amazing cushions by our DPT.

Thanks sweetie! I used 2 garden kneeling pads. Better than the pillow. My knees look like they are storing my marble collection! Thanks again! It did help! ❤️

@@WeShape by the way, I did fall a few days later! It was my own stupid fault, climbing over the pet gate in flip flops - and the gate wasn't even locked in the doorway! UHG! Anyway ,my garden pads were within reach, and I was able to get up ok with only two little boo boos. A bruise on my baby toe and a little scrape on my arm near the elbow. There's a reason I wasn't named Grace! But I had been practicing since I saw your video! Thanks again! Lum 💖
