Intermittent Fasting Foodie

Intermittent Fasting Foodie

2 жыл бұрын

What do I eat during my one meal a day?! Well short answer... whatever I want! Here are 7 days worth of my choices!
For the past 14 months I have been Intermittent Fasting every single day. I have short eating windows and eat only a single meal a day, with very few exceptions. This gives me the joy of eating what I like, while still feeling so much better and being able to lose 30 lbs and experience many NSV.
If you want to start Intermittent Fasting, I would recommend purchasing this book.

Omad diet just means eating 1 hour a day and fasting 23 hours a day 23:1 so eat what ever you want . Some folks do keto or carnivore versions but that isn't necessary to lose fat. Just stay around 1700- 2000 calories ,2000 calories would be ideal but try not to go over.

Stumbling across this video has been a game changer. Simply watching how this works for you was so impactful. I started OMAD/ IF immediately after watching this . I had been on KZbin contemplating a protein shake diet because I'm back up to my heaviest again and so depressed about it. I've been on day 5 of OMAD and I've been doing amazing!! I truly believe this is something I can stick with it's a 1000 × easier than spreading my calorie restriction and carb counting out over the entire day. I thought I would be starving on OMAD but I'm actually not hungry at all. That is shocking me, because I'm ALWAYS hungry or craving something when I have 3 meals plus snacks throughout the day.

You've got such a great personality. I love your videos. I've now watched quite a few of your videos, and I can see that as time went on, you became more aware of food choices (Gin calls it becoming a food snob). My husband did too. He would get offered unhealthy food choices, or asked to eat outside his food window, and he just stayed strong and chose healthy food options and he'd politely refuse eating outside his window. I'm very proud of him. I'm giving you a link to a video I found quite interesting (if you ever have the time). Watch it on playback speed of 1.25 or 1.50). I think you'll find it interesting too. I'm mentioning this because even though I'm twice your age, we have similar body types (pear shape). When you tweak your food choices (which actually you have been); any leftover fat/weight will melt away. For both of us, it's hips. The speaker has a great personality,. I hope you like it. I normally eat 1lbs meat /seafood and a carb like a potato with 1tsp sour cream or 1cup rice and a salad . I do put 1Tbsp of ranch I put in a container with lid and give good shake so dressing covers the whole salad. 1700-2000 calories daily. I eat after I exercise, I exercise on empty stomach. Working out of empty stomach isn't for everyone if dizzy or light headed eat something like a banana or protein bar. Exercise 30min strength training and 30 min cardio: mon upper,Tue lower,wed rest,thurs upper, fri lower, sat and sun rest.

I think your food choices are spot on for being a human being and a mom! Having kids means there is kids food around you all day and if you like to bake then there is baked goods around, so this is real life. I am starting this for sure. I follow this too but I don't mention it in front of my kids because I don't want to give them any negative feelings towards food because I feel like that's been my issues all my life. Is there a forum or place to ask questions? One of your videos just popped up for me. I am confused after three months as to dealing with unexpected events that pop up while fasting. Say I am typically fasting for 19-20 hours a day but two days in a row unexpected things happen that cause me to break my fast, so one day I end up with say an 8 hour fast and say maybe a 10 hour. Then I go right back to my normal daily fasting times. Is that "bad" or not good for me? I feel very confused about things like this. Like a wedding weekend where I just don't want to per se spend it fasting at all, or our upcoming trip to Italy? Can you help? Thank you :)
@FastingFoodie
@FastingFoodie 2 жыл бұрын
Hey!! If I were in your shoes and those two events popped up, I would only break the fast if I wanted to (not because others thought I should)... then if we get past that hurdle and I decide to break my fast, I would have two days with shorter fasts. However, I would get back to a regular schedule when I could. I do not think this messes your progress up. If you read Fast Feast Repeat it talks about the benefits of switching it up and not being predictable.... IMO this gives me an encouragement to be flexible and not too rigid. Of course, for me the slippery slope is taking the longer eating windows and will I fully commit to returning. I think it is totally doable. In fact, I have seen so many go on vacation, only fast when they sleep, and then return to normal schedule when back.
@jennt2882
@jennt2882 2 жыл бұрын
@@FastingFoodie thank you for you opinion. Seems very fair minded. I have tried two different ways of doing this. One weekend we went out of town and I was able to continue fasting most of the time. Then we went away another weekend and based on the events, I fasted normal the first tow days then not at all for three. I did manage to gain a few pounds (I am menop and 53) but I started right back once I hit the plane on the last night and I lost those pounds immediately.

Initially I lost a pound but ten days later I’m up three pounds and not quite sure what I’m doing wrong! I document what I eat and fasting for 20 hours is not hard. I’m post-menopausal. I do have one to two cups of coffee in the morning with fat free cream. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

Lot of 20+ fasting hours! So, I get confused: say you have a 4 hour eating window, ok? You don’t just keep eating the entire time but you kinda seem to. The app, the entree, the dessert , plus whatever , must take some time, so do you stretch it out for the whole window or not? Ugh, I’m overthinking this! Also, there’s a lot of you tube channels devoted to fasting WITH Keto. I’m on day 5 of this and I gotta say it’s a bit strict. I honestly thought IF went hand in hand with keto. So you just may be my life saver for success!! Thank you!
@simplefamilyfood5288
@simplefamilyfood5288 2 жыл бұрын
Hello, I do think you're over thinking it. I don't really track/insist on a certain eating window. Sometimes it's 4 hours - but if it is, I am not constantly eating for 4 hours. I have 1 main meal each day, sometimes that includes "app, dessert, etc" and sometimes it doesn't. I just try to be satisfied daily AND get at least 18 hours of a fast in. If I get 18 hours, then I feel free to open it when I want to, which usually isn't right away. Once I open it, I feel free to eat until I want to close it.... I don't go hog wild (usually). I do keep in mind that the later I close the window, the later 18 hours is the following day. I did Keto for 1 month as an experiment. But after that, I stopped KETO and just eat in a small window daily.

I probably am I've lost a couple pounds in the last 8 months (I haven't weighed in 2 to be honest). Since I am at a healthy weight, I am no longer trying to lose, but I haven't gotten as low as I hoped (145... but that is arbitrary). I am unwilling to exclude foods to lose more, so I am just fasting and seeing what happens!

My goal is to loose 15 kg more . Am currently at 65kg so my goal is 50kg. Yeah am overweight cause my height is 4' 10 . I really hope i make it this time. But i am still having a hard time during the fasting window i feel so hungry so i sometimes snack on maybe 10 or less groundnuts.. i heard it breaks my fast so am trying to avoid it but it gets hard during the day i get so hungry and my eating window starts 5:30 - 6:30 pm. I don workout i just do yoga for half an hour or more sometimes and take a walk after my OMAD meal. Am 24 after 3 days so i really hope i make zc my lifestyle and not a diet... To everyone trying to loose weight with intermittent fasting i hope you achieve your goal.

Hi Vana, I will link a video under this comment with further explanation. But simply it is a day where you either fully fast, or eat a 500 calorie single meal (something small to get you through) and then the next day (an up day) you have 2 meals at least and at least a 6 hour eating window. It's a way to change up what you do. It can be great way to have extended autophagy.

OK we are new. What’s a down day?
@FastingFoodie
@FastingFoodie 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Rick, I will link a video under this comment with further explanation. But simply it is a day where you either fully fast, or eat a 500 calorie single meal (something small to get you through) and then the next day (an up day) you have 2 meals at least and at least a 6 hour eating window. It's a way to change up what you do. It can be great way to have extended autophagy.

Isn't this alternate day fasting?

The first two days are, yes. But I don’t regularly do that as an every other day. Many (not all) weeks I try to have a single down day and a single up day.

You and your family must have iron stomachs. If I ate like this my stomach would be so upset. It must be nice!

I can only imagine if she ate healthy foods instead of all the junk food how much more successful she would have been with this OMAD diet.

Wow, it's impressive what OMAD alone can do. I've done it now for almost a month and it's great. I just have to say that what you show in the video is way more "junk food" than I eat in a whole year. Imagine if you did OMAD combined with healthy food without grains, sugar, and PUFAs. My stomach, energy, and well-being are ruined for days if I eat certain things like bread, peanuts, and corn, so I combine my OMAD with Keto.

I do understand my food choices aren't the picture of clean eating. I just want to be transparent and encourage people that it doesn't have to be an all or nothing shift. I would NEVER have been able to change my eating and adopt OMAD if trying to do it all at once. Progress doesn't require perfection. I am so glad Keto works well for you.
