Sadly, package thieves and porch pirates have the mentality that if they want something, they can just steal it.
This becomes an incredibly easy mindset to adopt when it's a common occurrence for porches to have packages unguarded.
In the United States alone, over 100 million packages get stolen annually, with most of the package thieves and porch pirates getting away with it.
However, there are a few occasions where porch pirates and package thieves get confronted and meet instant justice.

I have very little sympathy for these criminals. They all got off way to easy as far as I'm concerned. Part of the problem is that law enforcement and government will often go after the homeowner victim if they do much more to try to stop them from stealing their stuff. That's just sickening and a huge part of the problem nowadays. They often treat criminals better than the victims.

I caught a thieving Amazon delivery driver stealing my package after he snapped a picture and made him bring it back. He also stole 2 packages from my neighbor'se porch and returned them after I caught him. He got reported to Amazon who started an investigation.

I once caught one, I happened to be cleaning my Uzi on the back porch, and he tried stealing from the front porch. Well, needless to say I brought my freshly cleaned Uzi with me. On his knees, the guy peed his pants, literally, and kept saying „PLEASE call the Police and don’t kill me!“ My made-up story of being a veteran with PTSD had really impressed him 😜 I told him I‘d tell police that I felt that my life was threatened. Since it was a very remote area in Missouri, there were no witnesses and no CCTV either, and a healthy „stand your ground“ attitude ruled the courts. Still can’t understand that he chose to target me, just him, no getaway driver or backup… Indeed they locked him up, as he had several outstanding warrants…

I’ll never forget the day when I was in 7th grade walking behind a classmate. A dollar fell out of her pocket. I picked it up and gave it back. The girl laughed at me because I didn’t steal it. I was really confused. I asked mom when I got home why was I laughed at. You and dad taught us never to steal. She said you did the right thing by returning it. It didn’t matter that it was just a dollar, not worth much. It wasn’t yours. That girl just wasn’t taught right from wrong. At a restaurant in the bathroom when I was a little older in the bathroom someone left their watch. So easy to steal. I turned it in. I asked to I get a reward? The manager said yes. Ya did good. We’ll find the owner. We’re very proud of you. You were taught well. Man did I feel great. At the corner store there was a dollar on the ground. Wet and nasty but I turned it in. They offered me the dollar as it was already on the floor. I said no thanks. Not mine. I ignore the penny dish in front of the cashier station. Didn’t know why it was there but didn’t touch it. You just don’t take what’s not yours. The mentality to steal is what you don’t teach your kids not to do so they think entitlement as adults. And I learned the hard way you never swear at your parent. We were on vacation got mad at dad, the f word slipped out, dad chased me down the hotel hall. Ran out on the balcony where was, got dragged back in and after he was done I literally couldn’t sit down for a month. Dad didn’t care whether I hated him for it or not. Show disrespect you’re gonna get nailed. The mentality of parents today is we want to be your friend. We’re not gonna teach you right from wrong. We’ll be there to bail you out of trouble. Not my parents. We’re gonna teach you you don’t steal. And how? Simple question. Do you want things taken from you? No. The. You don’t take from others. You mess up we’ll turn you in. Get in trouble with the Police you get yourself out. No bail help. Don’t bother to call. We taught you better. Slip it’s all on you. Never forget you’re entitled to nothing. We are your parents not your friend. We were taught you want to back talk? Great! You won’t be able to sit for a month. Or you’ll get back handed. I never did either again. You don’t like house rules? Great! a dad packed my suitcase and gave me a choice. A night in a hotel at 13 you’re on your own after that, or get used to the house rules.
