This is useless tricks.. I have seen fish vendors remove veins using hands cleaning hundreds of prawns in 10 mins. They will never use any knife. Probably that's the fastest and efficient way. This is yet another normal way of cleaning.

My husband did not like to eat prawns before we know each other. Once after engagement, once he came home to see me before wedding and I made him Crispy prawns fry which is made with prawns dipped in flour, egg mixture and bread crumbs. He finished it all. We have a 3.5 yr child now, whenever we go to a restaurant, the first thing he asks is, do you have crispy prawns fry?! They obviously give other options, but once he ordered it but didn't like the taste and I ended up making it that week to surprise him and he was sooo happy and asked why the prawns I make taste better, that's when I showed him the cleaning process. He was awestruck and said, "ewww" I've never eaten prawns in a 5 star restaurants so I can't really say all restaurants don't clean the prawns properly but the other category definitely won't. Also, a small tip, no need to use knife and toothpick just switch to a small sized serrated knife which saves a lot of time.
