My dad is 6’5, I have some room to grow but I’m 6’1 right now and 190. I’m wanting to lose my fat and grow a bunch of muscle so I can be a TE. Even if I don’t get 6’4+, I’ve always been a heavier and bulkier person, I think I’d make a good TE. I could block and catch for short yards. I’m looking to walkon to the university of Arkansas. I have never played football but I’ve always had a passion for it. I think I’m a good football player. I just hope that me not playing doesn’t have effect on my skills for football.
@clayraterman5 сағат бұрын
Well not ever playing certainly has an effect on your skills...you gotta play to get better! So start as soon as you can with playing the actual sport to see if you even like it. Don't just wait around and try and walk on later on in life. If you can't play at a school go play flag or something to try it out.
@FlintnChirt4 сағат бұрын
@ I like football, I’ve played it with family and as recesss and such all my life, I never got the opportunity to play on a team since my school did have one. Football is over and I’m a senior so I can’t play it…. I love football regardless, I’m great at catching, great at taking hits, pretty good at running. I have my brother help me with drills at home like catching on the run and normal stuff. Some people just have football skills and the ability to do everything they ask you to do. I think I can do it but I try to run most drills that college teams play and stuff so I can be more mentally prepared. I know I’ll be at the bottom of the barrel for sure but getting a chance to showcase some of my skills could put me up there….

Yo your story inspired me. I’m 17 years old and a Senior and unfortunately I’ve only played in practices as a DB and WR before quitting due to grades and injury. I’ve missed summer workouts due to a summer job cutting grass, so I guess imma just work on my body and mind, and try and play semi-pro when the next season rolls around. I’m by no means scared, just nervous to re-aggravate an injury. I’ve played head up with people who have college offers right now and I’m willing to put in that work. Do you think it’s worth shooting for XFL or A college offer and could I do it ? Because I see myself doing either music, sports, or something with tech.

If you're quitting hs football it means you probably don't like football that much, in which case college football is not going to be very realistic. It gets much more serious, less fun, and way harder in college. You probably like the idea of being a football player and what comes with it more than you actually like playing football. But that's up for you to figure out!

@@clayraterman I will definitely see. I’ve loved playing the sport, but basketball had my heart and I put my all into it, I just played football for the fun and love of it. I’ve only considered taking it serious, because I keep getting asked to play football and because I see myself in sports. What you said though is indeed true, but would trying to see if I want to go for it with semi-pro be a good option to see if I would have/build a genuine love for the game and maybe do ufl ??

What size and numbers should you hit as a running back to even consider trying out for the d2 level and can you be too old? Sorry for the big question 😅
@clayraterman9 ай бұрын
Silly questions - as good of numbers as you can get is the only answer lol...there's no set magical numbers. I could tell you to run a 4.6, but what if someone made it with a 5.0 second 40 because of what was needed at the time? There's no rules but If you're looking for averages google average NFL combine times for your position and bump it back a little bit. The real answer is figure out it you want to actually do this or not. Then if yes, train your ass off at all the drills every week, lift, get in good condition, and go do your best. I think most people ask these questions about what number they need to hit bc they either want validation which doesn't matter (the only validation is making the team) or they want an excuse to not go try. So go try, try your best, and actually put in the work to give it a good attempt!

@clayraterman Жыл бұрын
Go make it happen brother. I didn't play as a sophomore in HS either. But I worked my ass off and became an all conference / district corner leading state in interceptions by my senior year. So don't think about walking on yet...you have 2 more years of MASSIVE potential for development in HS. The biggest 2. You need to find a way to play where you are now, that's step one. Get in the gym. Talk to the coaches. Specialize in something the team needs and become the BEST in the state at it. Don't run away from where you are right now by thinking of walking on. These next 2 years will determine if you have what it takes to walk on somewhere. Win where your feet are.

Your 40 is the only thing they really measure and so that's the most important stat. You can get better at the 40 by running it a LOT. Practice your starts specifically. Its hard for people to gain "top end" speed....but you can easily shave a couple tenths off your 40 by simply perfecting your start. Many people don't do that so I'd start there.
