6:22 anyone who can do this can do multiple reps of push-ups, and anyone who can't do a single push-up can't do this either, they will be flat on the floor with a quickness
@recboКүн бұрын
Lee covers that, "flat on the floor", when he says start at the top, do mini down to fall point, start at bottom, do mini again to collapse point. Bring those ends together, to one whole pushup.
@proverbalizerКүн бұрын
@@recbo if you can't do a push-up, then there is no "start at the bottom" it's a non starter, you will simply start at the bottom and remain at the bottom for example I can't do a 1-arm push-up...anyone who tells me I should fix that by doing mini-1 arm pushups with my arm bent at a 90 degree angle sounds crazy....it's 100% impossible, and it would only be possible if I already had the strength necessary to do a 1 arm pushup
@recbo14 сағат бұрын
@proverbalizer For some, start at the top, take the turtle position Lee describes, do mini reps down toward collapse. Days, weeks, months, later, that will develop strength to start at the bottom.
@recbo13 сағат бұрын
@proverbalizer Also as far as 1 arm pushup, or 1 leg squat, dont start working on that before you can do quite a few two arm or two leg reps. I'll leave out a specific number, because this is Lee Weiland's yt. I will say I get to a point on the way up, and lift a hand or foot, or start down on one arm or leg, then engage the other arm or leg. That may not be as good as adding a variant like Lee mentions, or adding a static hold like horse, snake etc.
@proverbalizer10 сағат бұрын
@@recbo i can max 90-100 clean full ROM pushups, but the going gets really slow after 50. I can max 50 in 1 minute, but getting to 100 takes almost 6 min Pistol squats are easy already. And shrimp squats are pretty easy strength wise, but the hip mobility is harder, and my ankle mobility is absolutely maxed out, by the time my other knee gets all the way to the ground my heel has to come off the ground slightly I'll work on 1 arm push-ups at the top. But I also don't see anything bad about trying them on my knees ..It's a a good benchmark for me right now because it takes a max effort to complete a full ROM 1 arm knee push-up. On a good day I might get 3, but on an off day it's 0

Or are you confirming that his strength to weight ratio is very high therefore he's able to do these things? This is great pro advice. I love this. When I lived in a Tibetan monastery I had a secret master with whom I trained secretly in calisthenics, running and the mind. This guy was way more realised than the lama. He taught me things based on The Inner Athlete by Dan Millman, but even beyond. This man takes me back to those days 25 years ago which prepared me for UK Special Forces Selection. It all starts within and extends out beyond the body mind. Now, no within, no without! Fascinating journey I see this man is also on. Great work!

I'm almost 70 and have been working out at home since March and still haven't managed a full push up from the ground. I do inclines from as high as the wall to as low as I can go, I do standard planks 3 x 1 minute with a 30 second rest and I use free weights and resistance bands etc. I'm interested to know what kind of plank you're recommending here to progress? Thank you.
@dexaler90082 күн бұрын
Just throwing this out there but based on the video he doesn't recommend doing planks at all to achieve pushups. Instead, he suggests getting into push up position and doing micro pushups at the top. Or getting into lowered push up position and doing micro pushups at the bottom. The wall push ups are the part where he talks about "changing the angle" so that seems like something you should continue according to the video. If it were me trying to get my first full push up from the ground I would do that pulsing at the top of the pushup and and the bottom of the push up for a couple of weeks and see if that helps! Good luck!
@TheGenarian2 күн бұрын
@@dexaler9008 Thanks. I did some research since posting my comment and it seems that a Push Up position PLANK as opposed to the normal elbow plank can do more for your triceps. I'll give them a try or at least mix them and see how it feels. I reckon that the partial ROM is also going to be a winner.

Look at forming the top position of a pushup, listen to Lee descrbie the Turtle hollow, then do reps downward until you reach collapse point. Then do reps from bottom up, until collapse point. Your collapse points will move toward the center, from day to day, until you complete a pushup.

When I was younger I was under the false impression you had to start really young (like about preschool age) to be able to do any of these skills. I didn't have the knowledge and internet access. I just believed I was physically inept with no athletic talent. I'm 57 now and started training last year. I will have to save some money for a coaching program but I will keep going with physical training. A lot of people my age can't move that well. Mindset is also very important.

Complete approach. As they say cover all bases, but I guess you could say cover all tendons, ligaments etc. I spent years just lifting weights. Back 3 months lifting weights after 8 years off, microdisectomy L5-S1, back is tight, use to seize up every now and again, I’d hardly be able to move for a week, carnivore diet 6 months, inflammation has gone and back feels a lot better but still tight. just had MRI neck have 2 minor- moderate budging discs C3-C4 & C5-C6. I’ve been watching your vids for almost a week, signed up, my lower back is stiff & I admit very weak core, can’t even do a back bridge, flexion is poor. Just got to start very basics, making lists and working out progressions from your videos. Superman, bridges, reverse grip hangs, hollow holds. Thanks again

My favorite pushups are the 'rollover/switch-over' pushups,…. it's bitchin, it's great, vastly better work out than regular pushups. I learned about that technique in 2012 from the 'sexy female' with the provocative vid-titles, here on KZbin,… she would do various calisthenics. That's basically the only pushups I do,… when I do pushups. Her husband filmed the vids. She was a former modestly involved 'porn star', nothing crazy that I saw.
