Great video. I'm considering purchasing the Ank & yours is the only review with a chef using the dough hook rather than the roller which made this really interesting.

i have a 1970's kitchen aide before whirlpool bought it out. i have been watching how whirlpool is slowly messing up the home mixer and they are doing the same with the professional mixers. First customers were complaining about the oil leak into the batter from the planetary head. come to find out that they use MASSIVE amounts of oil splattered on the gears (the grease they use is like a dark jelly) then they decided to use white grease (they claim its food grade). Now i see that they no longer put spring and washer on the paddle attachment rod. They say that it is not a necessity which isnt the case at all. If the kitchen aide mixer doesnt have the spring and washer, the attachment will have enough play that it will ruin it. They even quit manufacturing it! So if you get a kitchen aide after 2016, there is at least one company that is having it manufactured for another company that runs youtube concerning repair and maintenance. Mr Mixer. I wont be surprised if whirlpool does another dumbass thing to cut corners and customers will no longer be buying them. So im glad that this mixer is a great alternative to KA.

These are great for the price! I bought two of them. The first was a refurbished unit from Amazon for $35, about 4 years ago. It worked great but was a bit noisy. The second was about $60, brand new, and was much quieter. The funny thing is, while watching your video, YOUR unit sounded just like my refurb lol. But still a great unit. I made strawberry ice cream tonight, it's hardening in the freezer right now!

I don't find the beep bothersome at all. Love my Kalorik! As far as the doors, you kind of glossed over the fact that when you open the doors all the way, they stay open just fine. I like the spring loaded doors as, like my regular oven, it will close itself with a tap in the right direction. Last, the handles do get warm, but far from burn you warm. Otherwise, decent review.

I'm thinking about buying this ice cream maker too. How did get creamy ice cream without a stabilizer? Do you think it was the ingredients, the machine or the temp of the freezer?

What YT mashed potato recipe did I not include? Let me know! 👇🏽
@Yamp44Ай бұрын
When I first served my nieces some mashed potatoes I had made once they came to visit, I heard them laughing has they were eating. When I asked them what was funny, they said that my mashed potatoes were really good because they were not chunky! I guess mashed potatoes are not my sister-in-law's specialty. 😉 I usually make mine with just some butter and a bit of milk, salt and a bit more pepper than most people add to it. When I have leftover cream, I will add it to the potatoes to make them a bit richer.

Hrmm, most pre-sliced cheese is usually treated with an anti-caking agent and I wonder if that negatively impacted Babish's results. Also, I imagine that Ragusea's recipe would work a great if you have an immersion blender, it would also save some stove top/oven space as well. I might try this for a holiday or pot luck. What did you end up doing with the extra potatoes? Potato croquettes, anyone?
@Mark723Ай бұрын
And the winner is...? Just watch the video to find out. Thanks for jumping through all those hoops. I think the rice John uses is just a hand-held version which produces the same results without having to ladle the potatoes into a traditional ricer - it may take a bit longer, but the end result is the same. Enjoy all those mashed potatoes - now all you need are a few steaks.

Seems like the problem with frozen yogurt, is that you have to make ice cream for it to freeze right.

I will have to add a comment here, I’ve worked in an ice cream factory for years, all icecream is manufactured to a soft serve consistency, then frozen. I hope this clarifies the illusion of the ice cream not freezing enough:-)

I have 2 bowls and keep them in the freezer. When I make ice cream I usually make a traditional 1/2 or 1 gal batch. I put it in the fridge overnight. When I am ready to start making ice cream I stir the refrigerated mix and pour it into one of the frozen bowls. Then I pop it back into the freezer for about 15 -20 minutes. Then just add the paddle and cover and turn it on. Firmer ice cream in about 15-20 min. Oh, fold a clean dish towel and set it over the hole and top to keep the cold in. If you made vanilla, when you are ready to do the next batch you can change up the flavor on each batch. (mint choc. chip, Baileys, Amaretto, crushed butterfinger with a tablespoon of melted PB, fresh peach or strawberry...)

There are plenty of quality Clad Stainless Steel cookware options on the market that are half the price of D5 All Clad line and do exactly the same thing. Paying full retail price is sorta crazy in 2024 when store's like Home Goods, TJ Maxx, Marshalls & Ross exist where savings are 35-65%... $200 for one pan is outrageous especially without a lid...there are 10pc Sets of Clad Stainless Steel Cookware Available for that Amount @ Sam's Club and Costco

I have been baking/cake decorating, even professionally, for over 40 years. I think this is the first time I have seen this! I don't do much bread making, but since I got rid of my 20 qt hobart I have depended on my kitchen aid for making frosting. I am looking at upgrading my 25+ year old kitchen aid and thought I knew what I wanted. Now I will do some more research, thanks for your insight!

How to cook frozen corndogs in a Kalorik air fryer
@TheCultureofCookery2 ай бұрын
If there isn't a preset for what you're cooking, I'd say just use the general air fryer function. It works similar to an oven, just don't put them in for as long 👍🏽
