This KZbin is titled Things Your Doctor Will Not Tell You. Hopefully this is KZbin generated click bait, since this is all basic knowledge to physicians. While true that not all docs are equal in terms of efforts in education, I fear that this presenter describes self as a biochemist, and while providing helpful education, gives no history of clinical experience, yet is rendering clinical advice, a little over her skis.
@SybalJanssen
@SybalJanssen Ай бұрын
If all MDs are familiar with this, why did my primary physician never mention this to me. Why has she stopped fasting glucose tests when it used to be a standard test. Why has my physician asked me why I wanted a fasting glucose test. Why did I have to learn about this from a biochemist instead of my MD as a matter of course? I don’t know the answer, but it seems to me that more civilians are obtaining more effective health information from biochemists than our own physicians. . . a thing to ponder on a rainy day.

Where have you been all my life. I was almost pre-diabetic. I want to say it is never to late to eat properly. I am 75 and this morning I tested at 104. So I had cauliflower, then my eggs and then my sourdough bread with low sugar jam. I tested my blood sugar at 2 hours and it was 94. A 10 point drop from fasting. That is amazing. 3 hour test was 89.

At 69 years old, I’ve been on a Keto and fasting regimen for the past three years, maintaining a 30+ lb weight loss and vast improvement in health. I have a well visit with my PCP tomorrow and was trying to prepare, thinking about what tests I should have. Then YOUR VIDEO pops up on my KZbin feed! EXACTLY what I needed! For the past three years I’ve watched countless videos and done tons of research to try to educate myself. I must say that yours is the most invaluable one I’ve seen, with the most succinctly presented information…and free PDF’s to boot! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Important clue might be, if you start to feel like sticked, glued, slowed down both cognitevitely and psyhically and you are only after your 30s or 40s or even earlier you should immidiately change your lifestyle and diet. Your doctor usually will tell you its normal especially when your results are in range. It s not. It s total bs. A lot of ranges covers people around 60 years old. It should be changed for age spans but its not. You should change your lifestyle and habits to feel like 20-25 years old and try to preserve this till you are above 60s or 70s. Feeling sticked glued sleepy means your cardiovascular system is getting broken your metabolism slowing down , you need a lot of antioxydants, protein and fiber, iron, vitamins b, magnesium, vitamin d, sleep and move your body. Diet should have very little amount of processed food or none.

My goodness Jessie, I'm always thoroughly impressed with your teaching techniques and how you simplify everything that you explain. I would've loved to have you as my Pathophysiology professor in nursing school, better yet, as my teacher for my entire academic career. Also I wish medical doctors were taught more about nutrition and preventative care models and not just how to treat the health problems after they have occurred. I'm a nurse and I never would've thought to ask my PCP for a Fasting Insulin level. Definitely a Fasting glucose level. But not the Fasting Insulin level. Now I absolutely will request for one at my physical especially since I've gained a lot of weight in the past year since leaving my workout class last year and I'm also predisposed to diabetes.

I have seen you on a few podcasts and loved the dialogue, but this series takes it home in such a beautiful way and covering the topics clearly and concisely. I am a nurse, and we are not taught this. I am struggling with insulin resistance and its effects on my health (PCOS, fibroids, automimmune) and just got these lab results and now know how to interpret because the doctor only calls when the ranges are out of high range. I am going to finish your series and take all of these "hacks" into practice. I want to reverse this and get my health back. You are doing such great work. Thank you.

Wow, now I know why I have CVD. Several years ago my doctor told me I had metabolic syndrome. My fasting glucose was just above 100 for several years. He told me to loose some weight. He never told me how to loose weight! Had to figure that out for myself. So now I’m 20 lbs lighter. A1c from 5.7 to 5.3. Low carb diet did the trick. I had two insulin level tests done within the past year. Two different labs and two different units of measurement IU/ml and uIU/ml. I used the IU/ml to calculate my HOMA-IR. Not sure how to convert one to the other. I enjoyed your presentation. I look forward to more.

Six years ago I started following Dr. Richard K Bernstein’s book “Diabetes Solution” and started a Low Carb High Protein lifestyle and changed my insulin regimen. I’m using 86% less insulin now & lost 70 lbs. to boot. A “Normal” human has a BG (blood glucose) of 83. I strive for this goal and it works, but it only works with a lifestyle change; away from the SAD (Standard American Diet) and going Low Carb.

Thank you. I'm not diabetic, but there are lots of people around me taking metformin. Simple lifestyle changes can reverse type 2 diabetes. You make that clear. Thanks again.

Many thanks for this great stuff. I have been using some of your hacks in a half-hearted fashion for a couple of months now and I was astounded to see a huge drop in A1c according to my CGM. So now I am going to getserious. BTW is there an optimal A1c?

Thanks for this list! I'm a 70 y/o male, 69" & 216 lbs, with fasting glucose low 90s and A1C 5.1. So doing pretty well in spite of being Class 1 obese. Now I know which specific tests to ask for for my upcoming lab work and physical. Liked and Subscribed.
