@ShadeZahrai4 жыл бұрын
Hi Damian, I'm so happy to hear you're finding value in the videos! The 'information gathering mode' can keep you stuck because the more you learn, the more you realise how little you know, and you never feel ready to take action (it's also called the Dunning-Kruger Effect). A simple mindset shift to gear you towards action can really help! Wishing you all the best on your journey and thanks for your kind words!

Yes this happens to me reading philosophy too. Read read but no do. As the Stoic philosopher Seneca said: “Putting things off is the biggest waste of life: it snatches away each day as it comes, and denies us the present by promising the future. The greatest obstacle to living is expectancy, which hangs upon tomorrow and loses today. You are arranging what lies in Fortune’s control, and abandoning what lies in yours. What are you looking at? To what goal are you straining? The whole future lies in uncertainty: live immediately.”

Hi Bijaya, Thanks for this comment and sharing your experience. It's great to see you've become more disciplined with your morning ritual which is helping set up your day for success. It's ok if you fall off the bandwagon every now and then... it's about how quickly you're able to get back on. Making note of what's causing you to divert to old habits could help too... something might be 'triggering' a return to the 'familiar', and once you're aware of the trends you can take action to prevent it happening in future. The motivation hacks are definitely relevant here so I'm happy to see you referencing them 😊 Wishing you all the best on the journey!

I think people need to watch this video first before watching any self - help videos on KZbin. With all the knowledge, information, details and other self - help videos on KZbin, people will tend to keep on consuming knowledge instead of acting on what they’ve learned. This is why this video is super duper important to be seen first before anyone starts their self - help journey on KZbin.

I fell for the Self Development Pleasure Trap for a few years lmao now, i don't feel pleasure when taking action 😭 this wasn't the case before i jumped on the self-development train🙈🙈 I just want to be able to enjoy the action I take without feeling like "maybe I could do more developing first"
@ShadeZahrai4 жыл бұрын
Ah so interesting! It's fascinating how it happens... once you get sucked into the trap, you develop an insatiable appetite for motivational and self-growth content, and then the more you learn, the more you realise how much there is yet to learn... and it holds you back. This is where excuses like "maybe I could do more developing first" and "I don't feel ready yet" come into play. Thanks for sharing your experience!
@BigThapelo4 жыл бұрын
@@ShadeZahrai "i dont feel ready yet" YES! That was an excuse for the longest time and I feel so silly now that I know one will never truly be ready. I'm back to taking action now but I feel like I'm not aligned with the present moment.. that's why I say I don't enjoy the action i take, because I expect it to look/feel a certain way. But its all simpler than I believed it would be and I don't feel that 'great sense of achievement' after taking the necessary action, or the actions I once defined as 'impossible'. I don't feel the magic i'm supposed to feel from all the self growth 😅 Its only when I tracked my progress for the year thus far where I realized that I actually did fulfil my goals! Anyway, thank you for these videos Shadé, they are really helpful. Keep on making them 😁 God bless

A useful thing to remember is that the "silver" techniques applied today might yield better results than "golden" ones 6 months from now. For example, if you read a good but not great book on entrepreneurship and apply it, you might have a nice little side income. If you wait to find the perfect book, how much will you be earning?

@ShadeZahrai4 жыл бұрын
Agreed - fear of failure or fear of the unknown definitely holds people back from taking action and can lead to procrastination. Listening to your inner critic also sabotages you from making progress on goals, as well as becoming consumed by the 'what ifs'... "what if things don't work out?" "What if there's something better coming up...". Thanks for your comment 🙏
