Saw the DIY Hightop build and had to check it out. Love the enthusiasm and philosophy, and you’re doing it great so I subbed for the full project 😁 👍

What is your cost estimate/budget for this build? What is the weight estimate? Will you need to add better shocks/anti sway bars to improve handling? How high above the original roof? (I am guessing 24 to 30 inches). Yes, your extension fore and aft resemble the older airstream ford chassis B class. Quarter inch plywood with canvas painter's tarp painted for the exterior? Consider a slight arch front to rear for water run off. Consider some type of gutter/diverter above the side doors. This looks like a race to beat winter! NO days off! HAHAHA!

I'm not an engineer. I figured two bolts would do, so I used seven. That's my formula. 😊

Theres no type of gap filling between the metal and wood like a compound putty to squish and then it dries to present any miniscule water getting in between the tiny gaps? I saw a video sometime ago about this compound putty to fill the gaps while they bolted the wood between the metal and wood. And wouldn't aluminum framing be easier and lighter? I know its more expensive but seems the wood be much heavier. I have not seen your other videos but may be in another video you fill in the gaps and if so which one? I am in an old e250 van and not a hgih top so Ive been considering building one because of my terrible back huntching forward all the time. Thanks for sharing.

When you remove structural supports from van doesn't that weaken van? I would think manufacturer put those there for a reason. 🤷🏻♂️
