To me personally, this is a very important movement, or not even that, a way of building tension in the body.
The tension can be built on one side, as in loading a spring for movement of the limbs, or on both sides for core bracing and prepping the torso to be driven by the big leg or arm muscles, and finally the tension can be let go for a good breathe and release.

I'd like to thank you Alfons. Not just for this lesson, which was absolutely mindblowing, but in general. At this point I must've followed your lessons for hundreds of hours. Bit of a trigger warning for the following: Back in November last year I had to have sudden life saving surgery, where they had to cut open my sternum completely, and put me in a medically induced coma for 4 days to save my life. In the aftermath, for the first month or so, I could hardly even walk. My nervous system and my body were absolutely at their limit. Now, ½ year later, I'd say I'm at about 75% overall capacity again, with some exceptions of course. And I'm convinced I have you to thank for a lot of my recuperation. The many hours spent with you on the screen made contextualising what I felt and re-learning movement patterns... well, possible. Your gentle teaching style and humour are phenomenal. Not to make this into some weird parasocial thing, so to make it short; thank you so much for your lessons, they've made an enormous difference for me. Oh and this one is the first one I've followed to the end since my surgery, and it's amazing. Time to get serious about mindful movement again I think 😁

Thank you. Perfect way to ease into the day. My body is recovering from shingles and very lop-sided, so this body awareness practice really helped me restore sense of equilibrium in body❤

Another fantastic lesson, thank you Alfons. I’m in PT for my right ankle and was just discussing with my therapist yesterday how everything is connected to everything as rehabbing my ankle is bringing into focus many other parts of myself I’ve been not paying enough attention to. This lesson really brings that concept into living reality. *Feeling* that subtle side bend of my spine travel through my whole body, all the way from my shoulder down to my opposite ankle, blows my mind even though I’ve understood the concept of whole-body-connection intellectually for a while now. That was a wonderful exploration in itself, but when I got off my mat nothing in my body hurt! Wow. Thank you for this very focused, yet whole body, movement lesson.

@@ImprovingAbility this morning during my daily somatic time I began each movement with ‘which way do my insides want to shift?’. It was fun and interesting to initiate everything from the inside out!
