Jacob Clark they were designed to be used to bomb imperial fortresses AfTER star fighters took out all defenses. After the war many were turned into mining ships. The resistance just plain had the worst possible plan to take out that dreadnought.

There shouldn't even be a Resistance. It should be the New Republic and Luke's grey Jedi Order vs the Imperial Remnant, a dark Jedi Order, Thrawn, and a new version of Desann or Jerec (I think that's his name).

Usually the Jedi starfighters were piloted only by Jedi for those reasons. GENERALLY speaking, unless there was INCREDIBLE need to do so, you wouldn't be assigned to fly one anyway.

In defence of the TIE bomber, most of its career would've been spent bombing troublesome civilian settlements into submission, only rarely would they be sent against opponents who could mount a reasonable defence.

To be honest, Uglies had some very successful variants as well. The Twilek Chir'daki was a TIE Fighter Ball merged with the X-Foils of an X-Wing that could rotate around the ball and by all accounts a pretty successful design.

The TIE Bomber is actually quite good in the X-Wing games. If you as a Rebel pilot are not careful enough, the ship you're escorting might get blown up easily or you might find yourself swarmed by incoming Concussion Missiles. And then there's a mission in "TIE Fighter" in which neither T/Fs nor T/Is were available, so that Vice Admiral Thrawn decided to send out T/Bs with Advanced Concussion Missiles. And it worked pretty well. Of course you'd have to be a really good pilot in order to engage enemy fighters properly in a T/B. Talking about the X-Wing games, I have a few ideas for match ups: Imperial Missile Boat vs TIE Defender Assault Gunboat vs X-Wing Carrack Cruiser vs Strike Cruiser MC40 Cruiser vs Victory Star Destroyer Peregrine Strike Cruiser vs Immobilizer Or what about a video examining why Assault Gunboats, TIE Avengers, TIE Defenders and Missile Boats were absent from the Battle of Endor in relation to Grand Admiral Zaarin's attempted Coup D'etat.

The B-Wing had a gyrotated cockpit and a tri-winged design, meaning it always faced the same direction no matter which way the pilot banked the ship. The point was to ease visibility, allowing pilots to track their targets while rotating. In atmosphere, this meant you could easily forget which way it's rotated when you go to make a turn. In space, this is pointless, because there's no true up or down. It was incredibly disorienting to fly, and required hours of additional practice every time you switched to or from flying a normal ship

when using a starfighter, if I had a bomber, I'd go in line with the Y wing, a small bomber with enougth punch to destroy a ship, but still be nimble, fast, and flexible in situation's, a starfighter, a mix between a X wing, Z 95 headhunter, and for an interceptor, the Jedi Delta ZB and RZ2 A wing is how to go, strike fighter, the ARC 170 and V wing in my opinion make's a good choice ships are not perfect, but they serve a roe nun the less

My choice for a bomber (assuming unlimited resources and choices) would be the Missile Boat, and for an all-purpose fighter I'd pick the TIE Defender. You really just can't go wrong with either one.

Well, TBH for the TIE bomber, it is usually carrying a whole payload of proton torpedoes or concussion bombs and such. So if it was hit and its ordnance goes up, you could probably see the explosion half a system away. Makes me wonder why they even bother to give the pilot hope by giving him a vac-suit with life support systems. He wont even have the chance to reach for the top hatch lever before molecules of him and his craft are splattered all over the sector. But hey, at least he went out with a bang.

Speaking of doctrinally challenged starfighters, the infamous TIE/ln fighter. During the clone wars the Republic's main warship was the Venator, primary a carrier. And they won many battles through the superior skills of the clone pilots in the quick interceptor styled starfighters. Then the New Order happened and the focus turned into massive warships with a focus of anti capital ship weaponry, such as the ISD. This meant a reduction in carrying capacity, whilst the starfighters became even cheaper and more agile. So in the end the empire had relatively fewer starfighters of a cheaper variety. Thrawn was right with the Defender project, it is the one thing they needed.

The Ion canon only disables, the Subnautica Quarantine Gun is able to shoot down fairly advanced ships, and the Halo Orbital defense MACs can completely destroy highly advanced Covenant ships in a single shot.

Yeah, a TIE bomber is basically a flying bathtub full of explosives. I hate playing as them in Battlefront 2. They actually managed to make them accurate to the lore in the fact that they’re slow as hell and explode as soon as you’re spotted by a better fighter.

To be fair, there are some Ugly combos that could work quite well. As an example combo: Take a TIE Aggressor. That's basically the TIE equivalent of a Y-Wing. Now, bolt an X-Wing's engines to it. Not the wings, just the engines. Now you've got a fighter/attack craft with the straignt-line performance of an X-Wing AND the compact profile of an Advance-series TIE. Maybe also stick a B-Wing or even Eta-2 Interceptor cockpit on the front for better visibility. Oh, and if you don't have access to Aggressors, you can use the Avenger as a base and add a Y-Wing turret to it to make a makeshift Aggressor. Also, if you think the TIE Bomber is bad, wait until you see the TIE Punisher. Even slower, still just as poorly protected, and with four times the explodium on-board. But at least they're actually usable in X-Wing Miniatures unlike the TIE Bomber, which is only good with its TIE VIP Shuttle title and even then gets overshadowed by the Lambda shuttle because the Lambda can take Palpy and the TIE Shuttle can't.

In the poll, I chose the TIE Bomber, because while several other ships are worse, the TIE Bomber is most likely to actually get in harm's way. With most of the really bad ships, you at least wouldn't typically be made to fight actual starfighters and ships with sophisticated defenses. The Torrent was a close call, but eventually I decided on the TIE Bomber because those actually have to not only fight enemy starfighters, but due to their mission would actively draw attention, plus they would have to get into range of Rebel capital ships of all things, you know, the one fleet that both has the upper hand in starfighters and is overfocused by circumstance on anti-fighter weaponry. I didn't choose the fighters where you effectively die in the process of becoming a pilot because those are just on an entirely seperate category of bad

I think that maybe a good idea for a video would be UNSC Infinity vs the Eclipse. The strongest 1 on 1 ship on the Star Wars Universe against the strongest ship (post Forerunner era) on the Halo universe. I think that the Forerunner technology on the Infinity along with it's MAC cannons, nuclear arsenal and AI would make a good fight against the Eclipse, a ship that deals a lot of damage and can one shot any ship given the opportunity.

Here is a random idea I had. The Star Gate universe and the Halo Universe may be close then people realize. In Halo, the mention that the ancient humans and the Forerunners had a war. In the Halo Timeline, the Forerunners won, but what if the Humans won? They knew about the Flood. After the war with the Forerunners, they have access to new technology and they have a little breathing room from the Flood. We have already seen the Forerunners had a form of teleportation in the games. What if the humans expanded this technology? Building a point to point transit system, the flood will have to use the system or trudge through the void of space with practically no food. So starvation or Gate System, and we've seen that with even a mediocre Iris with the Gates, numbers aren't going to be matter. It was a fun thought that actually made a level of sense.

I'm honestly not that surprised that you chose the TIE Bomber as your TIE variant. It was badass in the TIE Fighter flight simulator game, but in all other Star Wars games I've played, it's the TIE variant that is ALWAYS the easiest to shoot down because it takes no evasive action whatsoever. What's more, in Rogue Squadron 3: Rebel Strike, there's one level where you have the option to actually play AS a TIE Bomber, but the first thing you discover when flying it? IT DOESN'T HAVE LASERS!!!!!!!!!

The V-19 is hilariously bad and I'm glad you agree. The mechanical wings alone would be a nightmare for any ship mechanic. Then add the lack of shields. The weak armament doesn't help either. Just your standard dual laser cannon and twin concussion missile launchers. Same as the A-Wing but not even close to as fast or maneuverable as the A-Wing....plus the A-Wing at least has shields!!! It's no surprise that the V-19s were replaced by the V-wings. I wouldn't even wanna retrofit a V-19. They just aren't worth the headache.

How was the MG-100 StarFortress SF-17 Bomber not on this list? ARe they not technically star fighters? Or is it because they are just TO obvious?

I would say the FO tie fighter (technically different then a regular tie) would be a ship I dont want to fly, it's basically a normal tie fighter with a slightly different paint job, and the first order already developed a much better variant by the time of TFA

Not all Uglies were bad, the Twi'lek Char'deki (Death Seed) which was an X-Wing's S-Foils mated to a TIE cockpit with the S-Foils rotating around the cockpit like a B-Wing, or the modified TIE Bomber used by the Gand.

I got the impression that the Soro Suub Preybird was more or less equivalent to the Y-Wing: large, slow and outdated, but at least decently armoured and shielded. I'm not sure it deserved a dishonourable mention on this list!

Your forgetting the V-19 was designed and built in a very small time frame, it was a bit rushed and Shields are expensive to produce, that said it was fairly agile (for a 'heavy' light fighter) well armed and fast for its time. Also the v-wing was developed from the experience gained using the V-19, yes it was better but it was developed later
