[HD] Mass Effect 2 - Engineer's Combat Drone owns Insanity YMIR Mech - Freedom's Progress

Mass Effect 2 (PC) - Insanity Difficulty (Engineer)
Owning the YMIR Mech at the end of the Freedom's Progress mission with the Engineer's Combat Drone. If you keep spamming the Combat Drone, the YMIR Mech never attacks you and it becomes a really easy victory.

Agreed. The cooldown is so amazing, especially with cooldown reducing upgrades. Being able to distract a Harbinger/Scion/whatever while you clean up the trash is so helpful.

@ubernerdia Combat Drones aren't used to deal damage. The whole point of the Combat Drone is that it draws enemy fire. Enemies are SUPPOSED to target the Combat Drone, not because of a dumb, exploitable AI but because that's how the game was programmed. Use a Combat Drone against a YMIR Mech, Harbinger, Scion, Krogan, etc and you'll see just how awesome a power it is.

@warp000 Yeah, Combat Drones are awesome. The cooldown is so short, you can spam it and laugh as YMIR Mechs/Scions/whatever never attack you. Throw in Dominate and you can frequently have a drone + Dominated enemy drawing all the enemy fire. Engineers are pretty awesome.

I'm really blown away by how good Engineers are on Insanity. Between Drone and Dominate, I almost never get shot at.

Yeah it's an awesome power. Combat Drones are amazing versus YMIR Mechs, Harbingers, Scions, Krogans, etc (basically all the toughest enemies). I just replayed the Suicide Mission on Insanity with my Soldier and laughed at how easy it was to own Harbingers using Legion's Combat Drone (and Engineer's Combat Drone is even better thanks to the 3 sec cooldown).

For sure. I just wish there was a way to have all the class powers in one character. That'd be pretty awesome! :)

It is much better once you get explosive drone as well since they do so much to enemies like this and with the explosion they actually do quite a bit of damage

@MegaZodiark He never uses biotic powers, he's using his ally's abilities with hotkeys.

What I do is start each battle summoning a Combat Drone. Then, I quickly strip one enemy's armor/shields with my guns + ally powers and then Dominate that enemy when it is down to health (Dominating Krogans is awesome). Using this strategy, I often have both a Combat Drone AND a Dominated enemy running around drawing all the enemy fire (which means I almost never get shot at). I'm up to Horizon now on my Insanity Engineer run and it's been a breeze.

great video ! also if your squad members are tali and legion, both with combat drone maxed, you can spam those things as much as you wish. Easy

@MegaZodiark go for the sentinle (sentinal? idk how to spell it). I used that on my first play through. He gets throw and warp for biotics and freeze for engineer. His special/class power is an extra shield layer. Aside from looking f*cking sweet, it REALLY helps in battle.

No. Reave does damage over time to an enemy whereas Dominate turns an organic enemy into an ally for a temporary period of time. It's basically like AI Hacking, except for organics instead of mechs.
