You guys have to realize that hardcore rap (or gangsta rap) is an aesthetic...there's an art to it...the lyrics aren't actual murder confessions, they're just painting a vivid picture of what it's like in their hood.

You got to understand 90s New York slang. Alot of MOP content is high energy and their lyrics is visually visceral. In some ways they infused rock and metal in their earlier music. Real hip-hop fans that grew up in the era..get it. Aint no way someone listening to them in 2020 would have a clue. There's no reference point or prior history to establish any proper understanding. When I listen to MOP, I definitely not expecting positive message but a dope song that gets me hype with a tinge of neighborhood proud.

Just like any other genre hip hop has many sub genres. Eazy E is smooth gangsta rap and M.O.P come with that rugged uncut street rap. Eazy E is more melodic plus it's got a funk bop to it which makes it easier for those who are not familiar with the originis of hip hop, which is stripped down minimalistic beats and emphasis on lyrics and flows. M.O.P is less melodic and their delivery is more grimey and their way more lyrical using metaphors and similes. West Coast hip hop usually got a more embellished melodic sound than east coast hip hop that's why it's more accesible to y'all.

Eazy and MOP do talk about the same subject matter but the difference is the delivery as well as regional style. Hardcore rap is basically the east coasts answer to gangsta rap from the west coast, east coast rappers like to use satisfying flows while west coast is more of just stating shit straight up not too worried about the flow

Interesting choice MOP is NY street rapp. Leaning towards gangster rapp genre. Ante Up is a good song from them. But when trying understand hip hop, you should separate each genre to get a good consistency of the same types of songs and sound. I would group these guys with a Cool G Rapp, Busta Rhymes, Mobb Deep, Big Pun, Smiff n Wessun ect. Group Eazy E with guys he fathered Ice Cube, Dr.Dre, or Ice T, Too Short. When you keep the songs running along the same vein. You'll get used to the slang and start to understand how metaphors and similes are used in certain rhyme schemes. Then you can listen for patterns and style and cleverness in ones delivery. Your biggest hurdle from watching most of your videos( i only watch when you do artist i like ... sorry)that I can see is the language barrier. Its like American blacks trying to understand Jamaicans. Its all English, but dialect makes a big difference. I am an expert on hip hop born in 1978, all I know is this shit.i have a microphone tattooed on my arm.i can really help guide you to a more fulfilling and less confusing experience. If you want.
