i think fat is important as well. A lot of vitamins need fats to be absorbed. Fat helps with digestion especially for vegans who are relying on plant food for their source of protein.

I’m really a fan of all macros. It’s just that fat and carbs are usually not the ones people have trouble consuming. You are more than correct though, fat is very important.

Appreciate your emphasis on desired weight and based on Kilograms vs Pounds. I so often see the kilogram recommended applied directly to pounds.

Great video. I was wondering where you are on carb intake and meal frequency. Thanks!
@OriginalStrengthSystem
@OriginalStrengthSystem 5 ай бұрын
I love carbs, I just try to keep them moderate. And in whole food forms (fruits, vegetables, roots…) With frequency, in this season of my life, I try to eat three meals a day. I’m ok with several approaches to frequency as many can work depending on the person, their lifestyle and the goal.

Tim, would adding collagen into my morning smoothie be considered the protein? I use vital proteins and it’s 25 g of protein per serving, so would that be counted as part of that palm? Hope that makes sense. Thank you.

Thanks, Tim. Based on this, I need 110 g, approximately. However, I struggle to eat even 85 g of protein, which is what I aim for currently. This is even more of a struggle on my fasting days (fasting 2-3 days a week has been extremely beneficial for me). I take a scoop of protein powder but any more can cause digestive issues. Any advice?
@OriginalStrengthSystem
@OriginalStrengthSystem 5 ай бұрын
So many different ways to skin a cat. 85 grams is not terribly far away from 110 grams. And remember, we are just trying to get in the ballpark so we can be in the game. One idea would be to get comfortable (good at) getting in 85 grams a day. When you feel like that is easy, up it to 90 grams a day and do that until it is easy. You could then work your way to 110 grams. OR, you could evaluate where you are now, and how you feel, with the 85 grams you are taking in. If you feel good, your goals and needs are met, no need to reach for more. You can also play with different protein sources. Not all protein powders are the same. You may find gut friendly brands that you really enjoy. Look for ones with natural ingredients. You can also experiment with isolates, concentrates, and blends. If whey is an issue, try pea protein. I’m a fan of eating what you love. I love making and eating protein desserts out of my protein powder. Is it possible that you could create things to eat or find proteins you simply enjoy and look forward to? If so, that makes the consumption part really easy. I hope this helps some.

Please be honest...plant protein is not as bio-available to the human body. Animal protein is optimum for the human body.
@OriginalStrengthSystem

But That was never a discussion in this video. I’d rather people eat protein as some no matter where the source is better than none.

@@OriginalStrengthSystem Agreed, yet in our current wild west system of information about diet and exercise it is critical that information from creditable data get out to those struggling with health. I do question your logic, being stabbed is better than getting shot, yet both are undesirable.

@@OriginalStrengthSystem I also understand your point. Humans seem to lack the ability to understand and apply the details of nutrition. When they see plants have X amount of protein while being bombarded by vegetarian propaganda constantly the details get lost. Some people do this same logic with granola bars or other "health" foods. Thank you for the discussion.
@robertwhite2449

Vegans would probably need to up this recommendation by about 20-30% to overcome of the inferior amino acid profile and digestibility of plant protein sources. Vegetarians are fine if they're getting plenty of dairy and / or eggs
