As someone who does sometimes use a wheelchair, I want to say that I CAN walk. Wheelchairs are just for when I'm super weak, or in too much pain. A lot of us can walk, we aren't fully wheelchair bound all the time. Levels of disabilities vary. That being said, these pranks suck and are bad. Why would you want to scare your parents or partner by pretending you got really hurt? The fuck?

That thing about Piper Rochelle is so haunting in retrospect; because her mom is now being sued by 11 of the kids who participated in the channel for heinous things. Tehmimi has made a video on it; it should be one of the most recent ones to date (if y’all wanna know more). Heads up for mentions of sexual harassment and child endangerment, though.

I'm a big fan of the prank they did on the Stranger Things s1 set where Natalia Dyer and Joe Keery put a tomato slice in Charlie Heaton's trailer because they wanted to hear him ask why there was a tomato in his trailer in his Northern English accent. It's so dumb, but Natalia told the story like it was the funniest thing ever and I love that. Stupid little pranks that are funny to literally just the people involved and not done for spectacle.

There was a wave of s*icide pranks here in Brazil a few years ago. I’ll tell some, so TW for s*icide themes. They were all horrific, they filmed their loved ones weeping with their limp bodies in their arms just for clout. I remember one girl started a fight with her boyfriend on purpose and then pretended to off herself. I’ll never forget his cries in the hidden camera video, him hugging her tight and apologizing, it was the most heartbreaking thing I’ve ever seen and she had the audacity to laugh at his face when she broke it off. One dude was gonna prank his girlfriend and he made up a really brutal scene with a lot of blood. But when she found his “body”, she didn’t panic, she kept calm and just started calling emergency. And he didn’t like that, he wanted drama, so he broke it off immediately and the rest of the video is just them arguing and him making excuses for himself.

As someone who has actually been in a coma and saw how it affected my parents and such, it really sucks to think it’s funny to purposely do that to someone. I didn’t have amnesia (that’s incredibly rare), but I definitely had a while after I woke up where I was not all there and my family worried I wouldn’t ever recover. Thankfully my memory was intact. So yeah. Maybe don’t prank your loved ones that you have gone through a horrific injury and have brain damage. It’s really not funny.

That yellow gown that the Dobre guy is wearing isn't even a gown they give people to wear. Its a contact precaution gown you wear over your clothes when you are going into a room with someone who is under contact precaution for stuff like MRSA or C-DIF. It's literally made to be torn off so you can rip it off while you still have gloves on and never have to touch your actual clothes to your gloves or any contaminated surfaces. Actual hospital gowns are not expensive. I don't know why they didn't just buy one.

speaking of true crime and cases that need exposure, Kendall Rae is a youtuber that mainly focuses on cases with little to no media coverage. She often has the families featured in her videos as well so they are able to tell the full story. I highly suggest checking her out as her content and partnership with the families of victims makes a real difference. hey drew/everyone! As a disabled individual, I felt the need to point out that most disabled people who utilize wheelchairs are ambulatory wheelchair users -- meaning these individuals have physical use of their legs, but use wheelchairs during things like pain flares, dizzy spells, general fatigue, syncope episodes, etc. Wheelchairs are incredibly freeing mobility aids. So many people who benefit from & use wheelchairs can do exactly as this girl did: do jumping jacks or whatever and get right back in it. It doesn't mean they're "faking" anything. With chronic illness and chronic pain, there are good days and bad days; there are some days you can run miles, and some days you get so nauseous or dizzy or full of pain you can't get out of bad. There are fluctuating levels of ability. You can some things one day you can't do the next. Wheelchairs aid in mobility and independence it's a huge misconception from able-bodied people who think that those who use wheelchairs are paralyzed from the waist down and cannot use their legs period. i know it wasn't drew's intention to perpetuate this stereotype, and it was incredibly insensitive and demeaning of that girl's family to use mobility aids and disability like this in such a flagrant way. just wanted to send a little message from the disabled community! thank you :)

I agree. My brother used to do this to me when I was 4/5 and he was 5/6. I don't blame him since he was so young. And even though I realized after the first or second time that it was fake, (there's only so many times you can ask "who are you? What's talking? What's red?" Before someone catches on.) I developed this fear of getting amnesia. Even years later it stick around. (Talking 13-14ish) I would constantly remind myself of my name, age, where I live, who's around me, what's going on. Then I would repeat it less than 5 minutes later. (This was really strong between the ages of 9-14) And if I hit my head it was a constant loop of the same thing over and over for like five minutes. Now, I don't think my brother's to blame really. I sometimes have this thing where I and/or the world doesn't feel real. I haven't been able to be diagnosed with anything yet. So, I suspect that came into play with my obsession with it. But I have to wonder if I would've still had those thoughts if my brother didn't prank me with that.

Here's a thing too many people don't know: there are wheelchair users who can walk (ambulatory wheelchair users). I can walk just fine, my legs work, but I have orthostatic intolerance and debilitating chronic fatigue and I need to use a wheelchair for longer outings with a lot of walking or I get really sick. I help my mom get the chair in and out of the car when I can. You can never assume you know whether or not somebody needs the chair they're using based on if they can stand and walk or not. Anyways. Screw these "pranksters" using trauma and disability as props. edit: misspelling

As shitty as these “pranks” are, I just want to say that the “walking into a medical supply store and leaving in a wheelchair” isn’t unrealistic. Not everyone who uses a wheelchair needs it all the time. I’ve used wheelchairs on and off over the years because of my congenital heart defect causing me to get out of breath really easily, and always got “wHy ArE yOu iN a WhEeLcHaiR iF yOu CaN wAlK?” questions as a kid, and it was deeply annoying

I'm a paralysed person, horrible motorcycle crash. I broke my T6 and my sternum , I had multiple surgeries . And I can in fact confirm when you get a wheelchair, that's exactly how it goes. You do funny poses, with dogs and glasses with the nurse staff. And then you get to return your wheelchair cause it was all a prank. I hope, oh wait nevermind.

Took me a long time to "train" KZbin what NOT to recommend. Even so, last week checked two news stories on FOX News' website while having YT open in another tab. Immediately, my feed started showing CRAP like mystics, tarot-card readings, horoscopes, Paula Dean recipes, and more junk I'd NEVER click on. (My hand to G-d, what I am saying is TRUE.) Google is so invasive, after twice checking FOX, they assumed I'd had debilitating brain injury. Had to spend way too long telling Google's algorithms I am still rational.

I had 2 concussions when I was a kid and lost my memory both times. It was awful for my parents when I couldn't remember my name, my animal's name, or who my parents were. When they found me, I was passed out on the floor; they were terrified that I was dead or dying because they never experienced anything like this before. And to add to the fear, they didn't know how long it would take to retrieve my memories. To this day, I still suffer from those concussions because I had them when my brain was still growing. Losing your memory isn't funny. Making someone believe that their loved one isn't themselves and might not be themselves for who knows how long is traumatic. I know these pranks are probably fake, but it is so disrespectful to joke about this crap.
