I was laughing so hard half of the time. But then it hit me really bad. Because it so much reminded me of the double life I am living and don’t see it changing anytime soon. Because of the country I live in, because of the family who thinks that lgbt people should be treated for being themselves. I just envy I can’t be myself in my life. Wish someday it’ll be possible

35:00 Re: Joy- I’ve been doing a journal routine morning and night. Morning I write 3 things that I’m grateful for. Night I write 3 things that were great that day, that brought me joy. Having done this for maybe half a year now, I’ve noticed a lot more peace and connection to my day to day life. The little things, the laughter, the way the dog and cats sit with me every morning when I meditate, the birdsongs. Over time I realized the joy in my life, the juice, the rich goodness is in the day to day beautiful little things. I also do a joy mediation that is feeling into anything in my life that brought me joy and feel the feeling of joy in my body. Then I imagine sharing that feeling all across the world and then into the universe. Doing the journal and meditation every day has been incredibly beneficial for my overall wellbeing and ability to feel and generally notice joy. ✨❤️✨

This was one of the most relatable episodes (love all of them). I was completely closeted in college, in love with my best friend but didn't understand that's what it was - pledged the same sorority she was in to be closer to her. We didn't have the ensuing romance because of the time period and still how taboo queer relationships were (80's). It would take me another 8 years of having massive crushes on close friends until I finally came out with someone who pursued me and was confidently queer. Thank you, Thank you for such an honest conversation.

Mal, the one thing (besides mushrooms lol) that allows me to break free of the incessant chatter of my own self and never ending thoughts is meditation. I've gotten pretty good at it and I can close my eyes and find my Center in a matter of seconds.. doing this allows me to pause and see the joy in everyday circumstances. Mindfulness is the key to happiness in life. Enjoy the thing that's happening right now because that is why we were put on earth, to feel all the feels. We are "the experiencer" of life for the source. Life is duality and even the "bad" things are beautiful if you zoom out enough. ❤

Rachel is so funny 13:33 "the house was the end of us"😂. It's so interesting to see how universal the experience of the "1st girl/love" is. When Rachel was talking about how her friend was going through the same thing of being closeted, and being in a situationship that is only gonna bring heartache because both parties can't be OUT /navigating the confusing feelings and dealing with society or even internalized stuff...just fascinating cause I literally flashback to my high school situationship that was closeted with the "1st girl" who literally said to me we were just a 'fun' thing. Of course she wouldn't seriously be in a relationship with me, because I'm a girl. But of course *sighs* wow. Side note: I love the set of this podcast. I've been obsessed with figuring out what time of day it is based on the lighting and the changes in the shadows outside. It must be the morning they filmed this. I mean apart fr Mal drinking coffee which was a dead giveaway. The type of light outside gives morning time. Also 9:50 🤣

Great interview Mal, especially liked Rachael's reference to Rama (they come in three's). I had a bad experience with Psilocybin's, a few years before you were born, and I used to trip a lot at the time. Three of us ate some 'Gold Tops' cured in Whiskey and Honey. Spent three days in wonderland and one of us never recovered. Ended up losing his way in the world and He was eventually institutionalized. He never came down and the whole incident scared me enough that I never touched Mushrooms again.

My first girlfriend died, so in my case that first girl "break up" was esp hard. 😅 It's been 5 and a half years and I'm dating a wonderful woman now, but this video made me realize just how hard I had it then - with it being my first lesbian relationship and also the first death of a close loved one in my life. 🤔 Just had to put those thoughts out into the universe. Thanks for these videos!!

Okay first thing, Mals laugh is the best. I don't think I've laughed so hard in a week. I got a truly go out find me a gal that likes tap dancing. Lol. This one hit on several different topics that were interesting. I think when you meet somebody under those conditions even when you're alone it's still stressful. There is just no down time for the brain it's always running worrying thinking about the next thing that's going to come up. Been there done that.

I would be aware of not throwing the baby out with the bath water relative to healthy habits like meditation and yoga etc. ...you can still do those things while being in a relationship, you can make the time...those things will give you access to yourselft that you will otherwise struggle to find...it is not disimilar to excercising...if you don't excercise you will not have certain muscles. Meditation, for example, is like building muscles, or taking a shower. If you don't do it, you will likely not like the effects. Balance is the thing that is important and needs to be paid attention to...if you are balanced, you are then capable ( a clear channel ) for joy.
@MadeItOutPodcast7 ай бұрын

@@MadeItOutPodcast Yes, exactly...along these lines I highly, highly recommend IFS (therapy) if you are not already aware of it. I wish I knew about it when I was younger...it is a way to understand and integrate 'all of your parts', as well highly recommend the founder's book, 'You Are the One You've Been Waiting For', the IFS paradign is, imo, a very accurate way to understand the experience of being human and being able to be compassionate toward yourself and others. There are a bunch of YT videos where you can get a sense of it, the best ones, imo, are by Dick Schwartz, the founder. (Yeah, I caution people not to let a relationship consume them too much such that one neglects maintaining their own energetic integrity ( with things like yoga and meditation etc.) because if you are not careful and are too neglectful the subconcious will often sabotage the relationship). Love this channel...the humour and authentic conversations represent the postive sides of social media....and I am sure is a light in the darkness for many folks.💙

I love this podcast but I would love it even more if I could see myself in your guests. The lack of diversity has become more and more prominent and while everyone’s voice deserves to be heard, your platform could provide a space for those who have a harder time telling their story. I don’t want say this is just looking like a white lesbian podcast at this point but it has become less interesting to me. Not trying to dig or reach, just a friendly suggestion coming from a Mexican wlw who has a hard time seeing people like myself. It would be great to see more black, brown, indigenous, and nonbinary guests included on the show.

do you even know why this annoys you so much or is it just that you think you’re supposed to hate it? how often do you actually think about how you feel and why? this feels like something you were taught to be upset about because filler words are such a normal part of communication. it demonstrates that someone is thinking about what they’re saying. you should try thinking more.
