Here i am celebrating 5 yrs teaching my weekly class at a local studio. I've been practicing for about 13yrs. The YTT, opens the door to a life long wonderful journey! Thank you for being authentic!

Kassandra, you are so inspiring to me. I am a 23 year old mother, and I have severe anxiety. I discovered your videos one day, and slowly you helped me to fall in love with actually doing yoga. Your videos have helped me so much with finding myself, calming down and focusing on my mental and physical health. You really inspire me to want to become a teacher to share this feeling of self love and peace with others. You have such a wonderful personality and I can't believe you are so young and have accomplished so much. I hope that I can become like you in growing my passion to share it with the world.

I just discovered your coffee chats and am "binge watching" them because I enjoy your classes so much. Yin is my current favorite. I also noticed a marked increase in flexibiity when I incorporated those sessions into my practice. When I was first introduced to Yoga (at a YMCA class pre-COVID lockdown a few years ago), I started with chair yoga. I resumed using KZbin several months ago....gave a couple of instructors a try and discovered that you are my "fave." Your teaching style and personality resonate with me the most. Today I had the opportunity to share the Yoga journey with a friend by sending her the links to your chair yoga sessions and encouraging her to take careful, safe baby steps until she is comfortable taking it to the next level, however long that takes. Thanks for ALL you do Kassandra!!!

I too love yin yoga! Kassandra is very good at explaining the poses. I do yoga every day now. Some days only for stretches, but I do like the more vinyasa classes when I feel like my energy level is enough to handle it.

Absolutely LOVE what you said at the end, I've watched Lesley Fightmaster for 5 years and cannot get enough of her vinyasa flow classes, but I am obsessed with your yin and flexibility classes! I grew up in Los Angeles and when I was about 16, in the early 70’s, my sister and I started going to a Sikh ashram downtown. We were doing Kundalini yoga! My sister soon stopped going ( she still doesn’t really like yoga), but I loved it. I went to a retreat at some point and even met Yogi Bhajan. ( unfortunately I remember very little about him). After high school, I kept it up a little, mostly doing Hatha yoga with an early morning TV class. Then I went to college and completely stopped practicing. After college, I started running and was a runner in my 20 and 30’s. By my early 40’s I had to stop running because of knee issues. ( I was also a mother and a nurse, so my body was very taxed). In my 40’s into my mid 50’s, I walked and swam. About 10 or 12 years ago, I noticed that a bunch of friends were starting to practice yoga. I was undergoing a tremendous amount of stress with family issues and of course, still worked as a nurse. I also realized that I was not very flexible and when I tested my balance, I saw that my balance was starting to go ! So nine years ago, in my mid 50’s I started practicing yoga, after an almost 40 year hiatus! I can honestly say, it probably saved my life. I think aging as a woman in a highly youth obsessed and competitive society would have been rough, very rough. Now I am 64. I am way past menopause, my body is aging and it’s really just.....fine. I am full of gratitude for everything my body can still do, and how I feel is the important thing, much more than how I look. ( though most people think I look very young for my age.) Yoga also helped me weather the storms of the past 15 years, personal and societal. When the pandemic came upon us, I was nervous about not going to class anymore. However for me, it has been fine. I quickly realized that I had enough knowledge and commitment to maintain a very consistent home practice. Finding great online teachers like Kassandra of course also helped a lot !
@wmhfv992 Жыл бұрын
This was such an inspiring, touching comment. I am less than half your age, and I am entering that point in my life where I just want to be "fine" with my body. Yoga practice has been a really healing thing - I've been practicing for about 4 years now, and it's comforting to know that your peace is the kind of peace I am capable of achieving.

Thank you so much for sharing your story -- and your wisdom, too! I share your joy that you have found your way into your "calling". I think that's a pretty rare experience -- esp. described to the degree you do. (I think it's really rare like falling in love. It happens, truly; but truly rarely!) I love how you trusted yourself and your own inner guidance, and were brave enough to put yourself out there and found your way into a successful, deeply satisfying career -- that also really HELPS PEOPLE (like me). I found your KZbin videos last November (COVID 2020), and doing yoga through this last Winter probably saved my life, or at least my sanity. At 63 I feel more vital and strong than I did last year at this time. I'm still only watching the beginner videos (it takes a long time to build up the strength and flexibility), but I've also relaxed into realizing I may be a beginner for a LONG, long time. I actually took a yoga class at my high school in San Francisco in the 70's, but haven't worked like this for literally decades! Thank you for making it so accessible! Continued joy in your work!

I love to hear people's stories of how they got to where they are, especially when they want to be there, as you are. It encourages me on my journey, gives me a positive feeling about humanity in general, and makes me happy for you. (Feeling happy for others is a very lifegiving emotion!) I started doing almost daily yoga when my YMCA shut down for the pandemic. KZbin Yoga pleases my body as much as it puzzles my cats; they will join in with utter confidence that I will not squish them while doing a flow. They teach me to be adaptible!

Hi Kassandra , I’ve just discovered your yoga and I’m loving your short 10 minute practices to start my day off . I’ve tried other instructors on KZbin but you’re the only one I’ve found that I enjoy , you are just so natural and easy to listen to . I’m almost 40 and starting to feel those aches and pains and stiffness and felt it was important to do something to alleviate these . I only wish I had carried it on years ago when I did a small course at 21! I’ve dabbled a wee bit over the years but nothing has stuck and I do believe it is the teacher as well . Hoping these sessions and longer ones will help my flexibility and over all health .

I tried yoga for the first time 8 years ago when I started to feel anxious. It was not love at first sight. Maybe I wasn't ready and also I didn't like the teacher.. so I gave up. 1 year ago I gave it another shot, and I found a great teacher. I loved his classes, and now I practice a lot even at home. Like you said, I love the fact that you don't need to be talented to do it. You just have to practice. I learnt to listen to my body and respect its limits. I have a deeper knowledge of myself now. I'm still dealing with anxiety. It's really hard to live with it. I'm trying to learn to love myself more. Yoga is really helping me.

I really enjoyed hearing your story Kassandra. The thing I love the most about yoga is that is it for everybody, it isn't dependent on perfection or ability to get into the "full" pose. It helps cultivate a sense of compassion and self acceptance but accepting where you are at in your practice, and ultimately this accepting and surrendering assists a deepening of your practice and progression.

I only found you a couple of weeks ago after wanting to try yoga but not really getting on with other online instructors and struggling with time to fit it in around my busy schedule. I really love your 10 minute morning videos and have started adding one on the end of my usual 20 minute morning work out or bunching a few together as an alternative. I love your teaching style and the way you instruct and explain- I struggle with meditation practices which is why I think you work for me! Just being reminded that it's great to just have made the effort and have a go even if it's difficult is hugely encouraging! As is your yoga story! Hearing that is was not straight up for you fills me with encouragement to keep it up, and to try your yin videos too, as that might help me with being more peaceful, or accessing meditation practices more easily. Thank you for helping with my yoga journey, I look forward to exploring your longer sessions and other coffee chats too as you really resonate with me!

I randomly came across your channel one day after Thanksgiving because I wanted to switch up my typical workout routine. I found myself doing a lot of cardio and honestly just overly exhausting myself. I’ve always wanted to be a ballerina and even did a dance class back in high school because I wanted to make the school “poms” team but when that didn’t happen, I gave up on my flexibility. Years later, I had this underlying desire to rediscover my flexibility, so after doing your class one time, I fell in love and haven’t stopped. I’ve been doing your classes literally almost everyday for two months. Not only has my strength increased but so has my flexibility. For instance, I can get into the splits again, which was a huge goal. I’m able to interact with my body in a new exciting way and just nurture it. I can also relate to strive for competitiveness, as I have that same mentality from always being an overachiever, but Yoga has taught me to apply grace and patience to my body. Your teachings have done so as well. You illustrate that it’s okay to make mistakes and not be able to fully deliver in certain poses. Because of your classes, I’ve discovered a new passion and want to take it further to maybe one day teach. Altogether, I truly thank you for making yourself available to teach yoga in a comforting way to help build and heal.

Very interesting to hear about your journey with yoga! Interesting to know that a teacher training would be beneficial even though you're not intending to get into teaching, but rather for your own personal development.
