Most Congress people were actually elected first in their 40s. They just get reelected 30 times because there is no mechanism forcing people to stop running and most seats are safe seats for 1 of the parties. So basically once someone gets elected in a safe Republican or Democratic seat, they will never need to leave.
@Onikage5510 ай бұрын
@@mattbenz99 Unfortunately very true, except for the ones who don't seek re-election because they actually stood up against nonsense and now aren't electable by their base. Really shows how comfortable they all are, if they have to "try" to win they're like "Nah too much work I'm retiring"
@blablup121410 ай бұрын
I would say it is a problem of the system. The people like to vote for the people they know. I mean you might not like Trump or Biden but at least you know who they are. I would claim, I couldn't be worse than those two, but who would vote for an unknown nobody like me ? And getting known is super expensive and takes a lot of time.....
@TheDragonWhimsy10 ай бұрын
@@blablup1214 No, it's not that people like to vote for the people they know. It's that the big donors prefer to donate money to those they know they can control. The longer a person has been in office, the more "safe" and predictable they are for people who are actually in charge. The donor class. In any corrupt political system the politicians begin to age up as the system becomes more corrupt because the establishment trusts them to do their bidding more than someone completely new. The politician that sells out the most gets the big donor money, money is how you hear about someone most of the time, and so generally you will only hear about someone after they've been bought. There are exceptions to all of this of course. So a trickle of younger people do come in, but on average that's what is happening. And of course those younger people will be corrupt anyway because otherwise they'd not have gotten the donor money to win.

These two currently on the podiums were lucky enough to have bodyguards who ensured they had three straight days to defecate to get it all out of the way before pulling them back to the car and driving straight to the debate. And even then with an hour to go I'm not sure if either one's going to make it. We have a lot of candidates in the future. They tend to pass away so fast that everyone who happens to want to be president kind of just turns up now. Honestly I'm not entirely sure some of them ever even knew they were running for president.
