I love every version of Starfire but the book Starfire's design was giving "I'm too classy for this world, forever I'm that girl." She looked too human and she didn't have enough melanin.

@@chideraomeh Starfire was not in the DCAU, because aside from a passing mention concerning Tim Drake's whereabouts from Batman to Static which said the 3rd Robin was with the Titans, the Teen Titans weren't part of the DCAU proper. After all, _Superfriends_ (the prototype Justice League of the '60s-'80s, which also featured the original Fab Five incarnation of the Teen Titans as recurring side characters in select episodes) isn't part of the DCAU (since _Justice League_ & _Justice League Unlimited_ are part of the DCAU instead). Furthermore, we viewers had already watched Dick Grayson mature from Robin to Nightwing on _B:TAS_ (with its 2nd & 3rd seasons going under the title of _The New Adventures of Batman & Robin_ due to executives pressuring the creators to insert the younger Robin Tim Drake [the show completely bypassed Jason Todd entirely] more into the plot & the last season being titled _The New Batman Adventures_ which patterned its art style after _Superman: The Animated Series_ after Batman & Superman had previously met in a crossover) and he was going to college in Bludhaven at the time that he would've been leading both the original Teen Titans & also co-leading the '80s New Teen Titans team (the same team which the 2003-2006 cartoon, the self-deprecating parody _Teen Titans GO_ & the live-action streaming series _TITANS_ are all predominately based on) alongside Raven in the source comics. The only TV spot the New Teen Titans team had during their landmark '80s comic run was as part of an anti-drug PSA, which swapped out Robin (whose rights were tied up with both _Superfriends_ as well as reruns of the live-action Adam West _Batman_ series) with a character using Robin's body mold & face known as The Protector. In addition to that, the initially considered _Nightwing_ solo series (naturally following the end of _The New Batman Adventures_ & would've been sandwich between it & the Batman of the Future which became _Batman Beyond_ wherein Terry McGinnis took the mantle from a elderly Bruce Wayne & arguably, is the far better biological son of Bruce Wayne than Damien Wayne can ever hope to be) which would've actually probably led to the Titans officially appearing in the DCAU (since leaked images of Nightwing & Raven from what could've been have been found online) was cancelled before episodes could be produced.

if you haven't yet you should read the 1980's The New Teen Titans, Starfire and her brother are coded as Black, Raven's character design the bindi was inspired by India. and I really enjoyed the 1980's and a few other teen titans comics more than the actually animated show.

I've bought all the books in this series so far. Tbh I was just overwhelmingly happy to have more Teen Titans content, and I really enjoy the illustrations (even if it means ignoring the story). I respect your opinion, and I'm not trying to shoot down what you're saying, but to me this series is brilliant if you want an easy read with beautiful pictures. (If you want good Teen Titans stories I can recommend some other series' to read, but they are a bit more expensive and a lot less casual and relaxed in terms of the story.) xx

I personally bought the book for more teen titans content. It's not the best buy a longshot but I bought all the books so far. I hate how they made batman a shitty dad and they whitewashed Starfire. To me Raven was a lightskin Indian girl. I hope they bring in more culture into the series and Gabriel Picolo fixes Starfire's design before her book is released but I know that is wishful thinking. I wasn't expecting a good story. I really only came for the art.

I don't think Ravens Indian in any form or way or any race or ethnic group because she's a demon so she's always been gray to me since that's what I grew up with or ever saw and Starfire is an alien that's orange so she should stay that way but I don't see how you can whitewash someone who isn't a part of a race like white black or Asian so I don't get that I just figured they stay in the weird color wheel like Orange and gray that's all.

@@Charlotte226 Starfire was based off of a black woman and her whole planet is black coded. In the comics she has afro-textured hair and her brother has locs. Raven on the other hand is only half demon. Yes her skin is grey but I am talking about if they had to give her a human skin tone it would be lightskin. Raven is from Azarath. Azarath uses things like chakras and bindis. Which is associated with Indian culture. Raven is also based off of a Indian woman.

Okay this is onlocking some long-held feelings as someone who grew up with these characters and fixated on them for years so I'm gonna go off here, hope you don't mind. I'm fine with Beast boy and Raven as a ship, but one major problem I've had with the ship over the years is that most of the content I see for it completely ignores what makes Beast Boy and Raven's relationship so good in the original show in the first place. In the beginning they are *not* a good pair: Raven doesn't yet know how to deal with her emotions and trauma and just represses everything and keeps everyone else at a distance. Beast Boy meanwhile is the youngest and most innocent member of the team, he's been through shit too but he's still super naiive and relies on being the jokester to feel like he fits in with the other heroes that he admires so much. Beast Boy doesn't really have the emotional maturity to read other people well and doesn't know when to hold back, and Raven doesn't have the emotional energy to be very...compassionate when other people don't understand her needs. The two of them can be teammates, they can be roommates, they can even be friends to an extent but at the beginning they can't see eye-to-eye or really understand each other. Then, through the seasons, they both go through a lot of shit and grow as people. They see each others' weaknesses, they see each other grow and change and get hurt and heal. They learn how to be better friends and help each other through all the shit they go through, and through all that they actually come to understand and empathize with each other. The Beast Boy and Raven at the end of the series *could* be a very good ship, but that's only because of everything that's led up to it. Sure, Beast Boy could initially see Raven and get a crush on her at the very beginning, that *does* fit his character. But for the two of them to immediately fall in love and be together and everything being happy and cute and mushy................... it feels like the people who like that thing just like the aesthetic of the goth girl x silly boy ship without really caring about the actual characters and their relationship. (Also I have a lot of feelings about bb x raven shippers completely ignoring Terra's existance and the massive effect she had on Beast Boy, especially as his first relationship. this isnt me being a "terra x bb is better than raven x bb", its just another layer of me feeling like a lot of this bb x raven fanservice stuff ignores major aspects of their characters. but im not gonna go on a rant about that now ive done enough lmao)

@@jesusgarza7960 Many fans, both comic book veteran readers & cartoon fans who jumped to the comics decades later, were appalled at Terra's original creation as a shock value plot device created solely to betray the Titans, sleep with Deathstroke of her own volition, pit the Titans & Slade against each other (before Jericho possessed his dad's body & had him backhand Terra, which the insane comic version of Terra saw as Deathstroke going soft on her/betraying her [since she didn't know of Jericho's -- real name, Joseph Wilson, who was Slade's altruistic mute son -- ability to possess others through eye contact] & led to her trying to kill everyone by collapsing the HIVE stronghold the Titans, Deathstroke, and Terra herself were fighting in, only for the tables to turn when her own earth manipulation powers rebelled against her), and get brutally killed off by crushing her fatally under the large boulders she was using to bring the building down; In contrast, the cartoon version was made nicer to better be relatable to the younger audience watching & she unwittingly caused a chain reaction that caused an underground earthquake powerful enough to level the entire city, so the only way to stop it was to sacrifice herself, which in turn, petrified her into a stone statue for most of the series after season 2 until her shock return in the series' finale "Things Change" after Raven reset the world back to normal upon banishing her father Trigon back from whence he came in season 4, but in that last episode, Terra seemingly forgot who she was and refused to exhibit her superpowers & in truth, whether this was self-induced amnesia or a memory wipe is irrelevant, since Terra wanted nothing more to do with either the Titans nor Deathstroke & was seemingly happy in her newfound relatively normal life as a high school girl late for her geology test that she hadn't yet studied for, with her effectively telling a once more heartbroken Beast Boy to move on with his life without her in it, regardless of whether she's canonically or metaphorically dead or alive with her past memories being purposely purged or intentionally repressed.

Same I only that the Raven book and then I found out I could read the other books online for free so that's what I did and imma be completely honest I don't really like these book adaptations I think the art like the fanart from the artist who's working on this book was more interesting than the books because the pictures that will come out in the art for it told like a full or story than these books series are and it was more fun with the art and stuff and I'm thinking somebody just saw how popular the artist was and how his teen Titans art was doing and said oh let's make a series out of this and imma be honest sometimes some things are better left as art or even is just a book series there are a lot of mangas and stuff that I've read over the years that I think I would have maybe like to see adapted into an anime or even a show but some of them even though they're real popular and a really good and have come overseas from different areas like even South Korea they work much better as books then I think they would ever do is an animated series or a show because sometimes like for example with the show seven deadly sinsI think if it had just stayed a manga series after its first season instead of just being a series like just a manga series I think it would have done a lot better and so much pressure and its expectation one of them put on the series itself to the point people felt disappointed in it and that's what I feel about this teen Titans a temptation with these books they're just really disappointing and honestly a waste of money and every time they come out I just read them online for free and passing it don't think of much about them again like I said the art for this series was nice but it is a serious doesn't hold up that I think another reason why this got popular in first place because people missed the 2003 teen Titans series and we've been blue balls and tricked into thinking we've we're going to get it left and right and we just never got it there was a comic series called teen Titans go that went with the 2003 series but it ended back in like 2009 or 10 it was a good run and I wish they had acted those until like a series but we haven't really had the teen Titans we've all been craving for 4 years and when the artist who's doing this series came out with the books and and the fanart people liked it but looking at this book series like I said it's just kind of disappointed it's like somebody gave you one of your favorite meal and it came out cold that's what this series feels like and now we're getting a Starfire book and I've heard we're going to be getting a robin book and maybe a Titans East book a few years down the line and I'm probably not going to read them or if I do I'll just read them online for free and then I'll probably just keep on going with my life and that's it and I think that's what a lot of people are going to do they're going to read these books in passing and they're just going to stop buying them at some point and just read them online and this series will probably and then people won't think that much about it

It’s funny really My issue with the original series is that the Titans were always heroes- even when out eating pizza or playing ball or… you know… at their own home??? You didn’t get to see these guys go to school, explore their relationship with their parents (except Raven), or just trying to fit in with others. It’s like the “Teen” part was irrelevant. Then I found Gabriel’s artwork which gave me EXACTLY what I want. You saw the titans being actual teenagers. You could see them hanging out at the crib, going out to parties, a couple of em spending some alone time, and going out to eat with all the other Titans! It was exactly what I wanted, or atleast I thought it was. I believe that this comic series falls short because they fail to capture both sides of these characters. Yeah they are teenagers with human struggles and everyday life, but… they’re also badass superheroes who prowl the nights to fight bad guys and prevent evil schemes to coming to fruition. Battling the likes of mercenaries, aliens, cultists, demons, and sometimes even other superheroes! Like the Teen Titans are cool as hell and have some of the best in plot lines in both comics and cartoons😭 If they were able to maintain that aspect of the characters, and build atop of it with the slice of life/ humanity? This could’ve been the comic series that EVERYONE would love

I just read the writing book cuz I didn't even know it was out to you mentioned in this video I've never felt more bored I think looking at a roll of toilet paper was more interesting than the robin book I read it in about 8 minutes maybe 10 and it was just so boring like I said toilet paper seems more interesting belladoodle on napkin will be more interested in what I just read it felt like I just wasted 8 to 10 minutes of my time these books are something you maybe get somebody as a gift they'll look at them once and then five years later they will donate them to a bookstore in till the friend who gave them to him that they lost the books but truthfully they were at those books once didn't like them and they just gave them away I remember seeing the Raven and beast boy books a few months ago at the used book store in the donation being the store keeps out front and it wasn't just like one or two of them there were like four or five copies of the Raven book and there were like three of the beast boy books because I was looking through it and my cousin look through it and she tried to get me to look at the books cuz she know as I like teen Titans and I like no I read those books those suck that's why they're in this being hell I think I should take my book there and throw it in the movie see if I can sell it for a few books that they used bookstore at least I'll be able to use the money from the book for something I need and I think when the Raven book came out back in the day I think I paid the full price for it and I think the bookstore I got it from was selling it for like 14,99 at best I apologize lucky I can get for $5 if I sold that I really hope they stop making these books after the Starfire books cuz like you said people are just reading these and buying them cuz they're nostalgic but honestly the stories in this it's like a drink of water it's boring I mean you would least need water but I think I feel the rest of my life without seeing any more of these out of tations like this with the story it's like you said these feel like regular romance story and they just inserted the teen Titans characters in it to get people to buy it if this wasn't original story what original characters in it only completely honest nobody will buy these books they wouldn't get the first volume out it would not do well in this series would have ended years ago and I hope the series ends it just is just so boring

I’m a HUGE BeastBoy and Raven stan because unfortunately I grew up on Teen Titans Go… but it’s what grew on me. I bought BeastBoy loves Raven because of that fact and that I love Gabriel’s art. I’m not much of a reader, but once I pick up a graphic novel I’ll never put it down unless I’m forced to. I read the book in about an hour but I didn’t even.. really read it. I just sat there, staring at the pretty drawings because I was so bored out of my mind.
