I can't fathom bringing a pee bottle into my hammock. I can't imagine packing one in my pack or kayak. Too much invested in my gear for an Oops. $400+ in quilts, no way. Plus, just maneuvering in a hammock to do the deed, no way. Furthermore, swinging out to pee in the woods is much easier in a hammock, never really thought of it as an inconvenience, it happens.

If you are in the south, Publix now often has Allessi soup mixes. Allessi is the best authentic Italian brand stuff you can get in Florida IMO. It is not necessarily cheap, but not Mountain House or other expensive, and can be found in grocery stores often. Zuppa Toscana, Pasta Fasool, and Lentil Soup are very good meals. (can add standard meats like salami or foil pack chicken or tuna to it also).

Since this video is over a year old have you figured out the pump sack. You have to blow into it from a certain distance so it draws the surrounding air into it.

This Professor is not saying anything new. I was a skeptic on Sasquatch and thought it was just a myth. I did my homework on Sasquatch and listening to many podcasts and KZbin. Heard about many American Indian stories which he is just repeating. I do not like that he knocks Dr. Melba Ketchum. She was a geneticist who worked with police and did not believe in Sasquatch. A Dr wanted her to do testing on found hairs of nests. Her friend had a freighting experience but had hairs on a fence of animal that kept on bothering her. Doctor Melba has done testing on hairs and sent many other hairs out to other labs and they all came back with the same report. They asked her what the heck were you working on?? They found mitochondrial DNA was human. The other for father came back unknown. I know that a skull was found and I expect a tooth will be taken out and tested. We genetically are close to chimpanzees except for a few chromosomes. They have Lucy and ancient small hominid that walked up straight, but look more ape like.

I believe Sasquatch is a hybrid of an evolved hominid. It’s a fact that UFO are usually found around Sasquatch. Known fact that Alien had mixed human DNA with Alien Hybrid. Too many abducted humans have seen these facts. I believe Dr Melba explains she sent many different labs and did not give any information. They came back with the same results. I would not knock her findings. Sasquatch can cloak themselves. They have developed their sixth senses for survival reasons. Some our move violent than others just like humans. They protect their family and young just like humans.

Kroger has their private selection premium store brand, and they sell an upscale mac n cheese box ("bronze cut!") in several different flavors (e.g., decadent Gouda) for $2.60 a box, with the free Kroger consumer surveillance card. 4 servings x 270 cal = 1080 calories a box, and 20g protein per serving because of all the whey product they put in the cheese goo. Super ultralight minimalist fastpackers will say the goo packets are heavy, but by golly they are bang for buck and punch per pound. And they're actually good. Cleanup is a bit sticky as the protein really loads up on the pot.

I’m 5ft 10.5in and 235lb… heavy and a side sleeper 90% of the time. Here in 2024 what are folks thoughts on the SL 30? I live in Southwest Australia and a 20 bag is overkill here. Use case is car camping or 1-2 night hikes. My feet and head tend to feel the cold the most. Any thoughts about the Big Agnes or any other bag to consider these days?

I loved the video, thanks so much for all the hard work producing it. I felt as if I were there on the camping trip with you all. I highly doubt that stream is fished out, just because a few hours spent fishing ends with zero fish caught doesn't mean the stream is fished out. More often than not, the trout are in super shallow water 3 or 4 inches deep and are virtually invisible to the eye, and not in the deep pools. Fly rod would be my last choice, I would have a small light rod & reel with 4 pound test line, small hook, and small live worms, letting the bait float down the shallows along the banks where there's weeds outcroppings. Many people mistakenly assume trout are in the deep pools and are visible, they're almost impossible to see unless they are on the move to another spot. Also, these brook trout move up into even smaller brooks that feed the stream you were fishing, tiny little brooks that people would never think they could catch a 7 inch fish from. As for catch and release, I never understood the point of that, to torture an animal and sometimes cause death or permanent damage then throw him back, makes no sense. Catch and eat is the only thing that makes sense to me

I'm old school. When I was camping in the early 70s, we survived on nothing but normal stuff we found at the grocer. Cheese, crackers, oatmeal, Tang, hot chocolate, salami, potatoes, powdered milk, bread, honey, powdered eggs and pork n beans. I think the one food I wish was still made was Durkees made powdered eggs that were so so good. When rehydrated they were just like regular scrambled eggs. I can remember camping in California when almost every breakfast was oatmeal or those eggs which were epic when we added a dehydrated bacon to them.

Just watched this video after a mention of "widowmakers" while hiking. Never heard that term applied to this situation, and I'm 65 years old! I don't hike or camp, but this is valuable info. ONE simple suggestion, though, if you ever update this video or its description: What you're calling a "branch" is more likely a tree LIMB. When most people hear the word "branch" they think of the size that falls on your lawn that the kids play with. Please say "trees and tree limbs", and also it would be helpful to give some typical circumference measurements and weights! ❤ Another great addition here would be a video with sound that demonstrates how heavy and dangerous and loud they really can be. Most people don't have a clue!
