I had a radical Nephrectomy July 2023. The right side of my stomach is now more like a flap sitting over the incision in my groin. Now not confident with my body.

I know this was two years ago but it would be good to update for those of us on weekly chemo who have maybe two good days a week. Resting Heart Rate as increased by nearly 10 especially i days post chemo. Have walked as much as I can but get very fatigued and can’t do weights due to PICC line which is something not mentioned either. Some yoga poses above head/ downward dog need to extra careful as well with PICC

I have swallowing and speech impairment 10 years after radiation therapy for nasopharyngeal cancer. The radiation does long term damage to the tongue and throat muscles. Have hearing loss and tinnitus, loss of taste and smell and dry mouth too. Doctors I saw never told me about these late side effects. Current treatment protocol has incorporated therapy right at the start of radiation therapy but not 10 years ago. Currently undergoing speech therapy. Praise God who gives me strength to deal with these issues.

I'm so sorry you are have had such awful life altering effects from treatment, Doctors disclose the big picture, they know many wouldn't do it then. God Bless you, sending prayers for recovery with speech therapy 🙌 A friend of mine had the same cancer in 2020, she's a nurse. She had mets to neck lymph nodes one side, she did chemo and radiation no surgery. She's had hearing loss, her nose is constantly running and her throat is dry all day long. She had an awful time with chemo, needing a feeding tube. losing 30 lbs from all the treatment. She looks at me like I have 2 heads and debated with me when I said I'm not doing chemo or radiation for my tonsil cancer one side with mets to lymph nodes one side of neck, I am doing surgery instead, tonsillectomy and neck dissection which I'm not looking forward to at all but seems to be the lesser of the evils. My surgeon did say there can be short and long term side effects from radiation, he didn't get into all specifics. He said if I did decide to do radiation if needed after surgery, it would be a shorter time with lower dose to help potential side effects. I think there really are some doctors out there these days who are more aware of it now or at least he and his team are along with my oncologist. Thank God for that

Excellent presentation - Thx!! One of MY lasting side effects (& don't know if result of cancer itself or harsh 3-pronged therapy) is hyper emotionality...

Thank you so much for this video. It has been really helpful! I'm 3 1/2 weeks post APER surgery and in my early 40's - I was fit and healthy before my emergency admission that led to my diagnosis and subsequent operation. I've ordered Gemma's book and look forward to reading it! The conversation about a fear of a parastoma hernia really resinated with me. It's a definite source of anxiety for me. Will be doing the breathing exercises and build up to more. Thank you!!

I started all these after 3-4 days of my abdominal surgery. 3 times a day (3 or 4 repetitions at first, and increase slowly each couple of days). After 2 weeks I started the exercises from minute 42:00 added to the previous ones. Listen to your body: any pain just stop.
