I decided to go cold turkey in July 2023. I had it cut shortish, then as I had a decent amount of root by Christmas, I had a pixie cut, and started growing it out from there. 9 months after the last time I dyed it, I had the last bit of colour cut off the ends, and now I have a chin length layered bob. It has come through really light, and a much nicer texture than I was expecting, and I have started putting some vibrants on it. I currently have a rainbow streak in my sweep and some coloured underlights, all done with semi permanent colours that wash out pretty quick, so I'm just having lots of fun with it now.

I used to dye my hair every month since I was 15. Now I am 43 and I stopped. I buzzed my hair and I want to experience how is living with my natural hair. Thank you for sharing this tips. Regards from Argentina

I think you guys are amazing about your gray hair. I wish I could embrace and love it like all of you on the videos. For some reason I just don’t like it and I have to learn to live with it. But kudos to you all that love your gray hair.😊

I am a year into growing out my gray at age 56. My hair is long. I had my hair stylist bleached out my colored hair. I still have quite a bit of the bleached blond hair. I love the freedom that I have now! So it is you are on the fence! 😃

The fact that there are support groups out there for women going gray is pretty sad. Women have been told for far too long that if they don’t look a certain way, they are not considered attractive.

At the age of 43 I decided to go grey - well my hair is actually pretty white, I cut my hair very short and let it grow out. I’ve been grey now for about 6 years I continuously got compliments - 2 months ago I got influenced by opinions that I’m too young and feeling down about myself I did it - I dyed my hair. Ladies here is some advice DO NOT LISTEN TO ANYONE but yourself - biggest regret here I am 2 months has past and I just want my white/grey locks back - so here I go one dye job and now I will let my hair grow back to its beautiful natural colour - 14 months to go and lesson learned - I guess I had to learn it the hard way. I now will never say the words I wish my hair wasn’t so grey.

I tried once, from dark brown, it was always very dark. My mom said I looked abomination. I said I think that’s quite an exaggeration. She’s 84 and still dying her hair a weird blonde. I don’t like hers but I don’t tell her, she really wouldn’t like it! I mean really wouldn’t like it!

I am starting to transition to partially gray! But would like the process to happen faster. Does it make sense to put aome gray highlights in the colored part of my hair. I am only 20-25 percent gray at the roots

I had been dying my hair from the age of 15. It started as a means of expression and experimentation and not because of grays. By 24, I was seeing a fair number of grays- they were novel, but still, the hair dye was more about having lighter hair. In my early-30s I moved from chemical to natural dyes. Henna was so pretty and unusual. I liked the color and dimension it gave. By my mid-30s, I could see my roots being more gray and being more noticeable more quickly. I toyed with the idea of growing it out, but decided to use up my henna… then I decided to buy more. Each dye from around 36-39, I wondered if it would be the last time I dyed it. Finally, at 39, I decided that was it- I was sick of the mess and the frequency. By the time I quit, it was 75-80% gray. I’m not sure I would have wanted to grow it out at a lesser gray distribution, but if I had started a few years earlier, I wouldn’t have been mad. I’d never judge anyone for managing their hair in the way they feel most comfortable. I loved all my years of chemical and natural dyes. Hair can be such a powerful medium for self-expression and there is no right or wrong path to navigate it.

I think it’s important to point out that the gray strip technique only works if your hair is thick. If it is fine and lacking density like mine, the gray will show through and it’s gonna look crazy lol

I'm off to the salon this weekend for a full bleach and silver toner so my grey roots can just grow out and blend. I didn't realise I was so controversial lol! Sorry not sorry my hair is about 5 different colours at this stage with old blonde heavy highlights dyed over with brown at the bottom, permanent box dye in the mid section, several layers of semi and perm root touch up applications closer to the roots and finally about an inch of natural grey at the roots. I hav a professional job, don't wnt to cut my hair and cannot just leave it to grow out like this.

I am 64 and dye my roots every 3 months. One of the last thing my sister (who recently passed in a car accident) said to me was "don't go gray". I wish to have the freedom to have my hair be it's natural color , but it feels like I will be old . . . but I am old . . . I feel like I am giving up and am tired of maintaining myself . . . but really, I just want to be my natural self . . . this is so much harder than it should be. . . thank you for your video.

I’m new to the grow out! 3 months so far. Not hating it yet. I’m trying to just go cold turkey and trim my hair often. Lately I have been noticing how awful roots look on everyone! I’m done. I’m not going to be a slave to coloring my hair every 4 weeks. I used Demi permanent color so I’m hoping it will fade over time and help with the pain of the grow out

How about putting gray to cover white hair for an aging lady? Gray roots better than white? Like a highlight. Hair growing in 100 white

I can relate to every word you said. Thank you for this video. I wish people who truly needed to hear this stuff watched these videos instead of people like us who took the hit from all the nasty weight/body comments. I have polyps throughout my GI tract which caused me problems for years before I finally caved and went to see a doctor. By that time some of them were big enough to cause hours long excruciating pain and unbearable nausea due to partial or almost full blockage and what they call intussusception which is basically small or large bowel folding in on itself. I had multiple emergency endoscopies and colonoscopies and eventually an open surgery to reverse the blockages and there were times I couldn’t even drink water for weeks on end. And you know what I’ve heard from people around me? YOU LOST WEIGHT, YOU LOOK GREAT!!!! This is unacceptable behavior. Obsession with other people’s weight and body is beyond infuriating to me.
