Here is something I have never heard you mention but I personally have had great results from this whilst I lived in Mozambique. The fruit of the Boabab tree which by the way is the national tree of where I was born ie Angola (lol maybe that is the reason why it works so well with me) Anyway inside the large pods of the Boabab are seeds covered with a substance which some call cream of tartar. It is dry and can also be purchased in powder form however I used to have it straight from the pods. These seeds can be sucked as a very sour treat or you can soak them and then drink the liquid as a juice. In any form they helped reduce my sugar levels. The other thing very commonly eaten by the Portuguese are Lupins these too help a great deal. Looks like the Portuguese diet comes with loads of secrets to health secrets that they have even themselves forgotten why they eat them. But remember they went around the globe 500 odd years ago gathering good ideas from all over the world and taking them to Portugal. As FOOD and FOOTBALL are the main Portuguese hobbies I would seriously look at their cultural food behaviour. Example in Portugal if a house does not have olive trees for olive oil then its not a house to buy. Cod fish with omegas and sardines has been for centuries originally a staple food of the poor. Lupins is something they eat whenever they consume alcohol must be some logic there too. Take note of what they place in their food when the food has a lot of fat etc the put BAYLEAFS now a bayleave bush or tree is a music in a Portuguese house don't buy a house without one lol. They eat a s.....t load of garlic BUT they also have it with loads of parsley their parsley which is a big leafed one. The most common and favourite soup is Cado Verde and it's made from Kale they tend to have soup before their main meal (lets not forget the red wine).Cinnamon goes on everything the famous Pasteis de Nata and don' you dare making rice pudding without cinnamon. In the past the rural people and even today the staple diet is veg and fish and chicken with peri peri take note of this peri peri as it too has it's health benefits. Key spices used to marinate anything Lemon - Garlic - Peri Peri - BAYLEAVES - Paprika - Tumaric - Parsley(DON'T FORGET THE RED WINE). So you might like to take a look at their common diet which does not include HAMBURGERS and FRIES I am talking diet of old now they have messed it up again. Those Vasco da Gamas etc are famous for their discoveries and maps of the globe but their discoveries included FOOD and good FOOD ideas. Greatings from South Africa

I’ll attest to the effectiveness of bitter melon, fenugreek and cinnamon. I drink bitter melon juice with ginger and amla fruit four times a week, and cinnamon powder with my evening cup of tea. A “Sabzi” made of Fenugreek leaves and potato, tomatoes and peas is a regular part of our diet. Apart from other dietary changes and exercise these inclusions have helped me lower my blood sugar. Fortunately, these are abundantly available in our vegetable market.

@@Nelli77210 Currently I’m on a low carb diet, so I skip cereals. But eat lots of cooked and raw vegetables and nuts and seeds(roasted and spiced, or made into bread). No extra fat except that which is used for cooking, and some more protein than usual - eggs, chicken, fish or goat mutton. It’s worked well in the past five months, and gradually I’m experiencing weight loss and better strength.
