Facts about 'Blue Banisters' Caitlin need to know: 1: Living Legend, Cherry Blossom, Nectar of the gods, Thunder, and Dealer got leaked years or months before. 2: Living Legend and nectar of the gods were recorded for Ultraviolence, Dealer for Chemtrails but recorded along with Thunder with Miles Kane and Alex Turner (yes, THE Alex Turner) for an album they made together just for fun. 3: In Living Legend, the "guitar" solo is her voice modified singing woaaaaaa woa woa woa 4: Rock Candy sweet was the title of the album, but she changed it for Blue Banisters 5: This could be the last album in a while, shes right now more focused on her new poetry book, and her album of covers

Being a Lana fan for past few years I have realised that.. ranking her songs isn’t relevant. You won’t even realise when you start humming random songs and begin to vibe on it later on. Many of her songs take time to seep deep within the soul and when they does, you’ll love it. I’ve stopped comparing her previous work to newer ones as I feel that she has not only evolved as a human, but as an artist as well. The maturity, delicacy, consistency and elegance. She serves it all. And it’s not beyond the fact, we can’t like some of her songs. It’s just a matter of preference. Love the reaction, as always ✨

My theories/ interpretations about the songs: Cherry Blossom - I think this song is a lullaby for her future daughter, the way she writes 'You feel afraid, Mommy is there' and also she mentions 'Angelina' , a name she said she would give to her future daughter along with Clementine Sweet Carolina - I think the song is about her sister Caroline aka Chuck. (Its written by her dad Rob and Chuck herself) Living Legend - As far as I know this song is about a friend who helped her get famous Blue Banisters - This song probably about her healing from pain (she usually uses the color blue to represent pain) and and friends and family help her heal. Note how she goes from using the color blue to green, indicating she has healed from the pain. Dealer- This song can be interpreted in two ways- Either it is about substance abuse and ho its destroying her or about a Lover whom she loves a lot but he gives her nothing, you know love is almost like a drug

I hate that I'm late but one of my favorite things about Lana IS her symbolism for the color blue. She said an interview that Blue is her favorite color, she thinks of it as the sky, ocean, and freedom. Throwback to her LFL album closer, Get Free, the lyrics "out of the black, into the blue" was symbolism of declaring that she will indeed make it from the era of dark into liberation and success. Now we arrive at Blue Banisters, reflecting on life, accepting it... it's very romantic. Painting her banisters (life and work) blue is a story that she made it. Her albums communicate with each other and I love it. This is why she is my all-time favorite artist. She's a poet who takes her written art into audio art. She's a genuine goddess.

Thunder reminds me so much of Flipside. In the latter, she was saying that she knew already what he was about to do which was like break up with her. And in Thunder, she was asking him to just do it - just walk away if that's what it was going to come to. I love both and I think I appreciate Thunder more because of Flipside. Also, I love the editing where you put some lyrics on the screen because lana's songwriting deserves to be appreciated. Yasss.

When she says “what if someone had asked Picasso not be sad...there would be no blue period”. I think she’s referencing Modernism as a period of change in literature where artists like Picasso self-analysed their work. Which indicates that this album is a self-analysis of her art. Hence “I can turn blue into something” and the title being blue banisters. Chemtrails was also very self-analytical and meta. Even more, in Honeymoon there is an interlude where she reads a T.S Eliot poem who was the pioneer of Modernism. She’s been trying to evoke change in songwriting itself from that early on. Even more, Modernists always payed homage to influences in their innovative art, and living legend is an ode. And the proof of all of this is that in an old old interview she said that she was studying metaphysics, which was basically invented in the Modernist period.
