Hi Caitlin! I read something the other day written by a beekeeper that said buying local honey actually supports bee colonies because bee keepers take care of them and only take the extra honey which allows them room to lay eggs. I am a biologist and much of my veganism is dedicated towards helping the environment. I know honey is a highly debated product in the vegan community but I was wondering what your thoughts were! Given this information it seems supporting those trying to keep bees alive would be the most environmentally and animal friendly choice! Thanks for all the great recipes!
@keatenwright84955 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, I don’t think you could ever guarantee that the bees aren’t BEEing exploited, but you do you.

If you are allergic to soy what would you recommend for the pancakes?

how does the vinegar and the soda make the bread rise? i don't get it. i thought baking soda in itself makes it rise?
@molelimer5 жыл бұрын
Septima Snape To my (limited) knowledge, baking soda reacts with acidic foods, like vinegar or lemon juice, to create a rise. Baking powder I think reacts to heat. That's why a lot of recipes have both, and adding acid helps make the most of the rising power of the soda when you don't have eggs to help somethin rise.
@septimasnape5 жыл бұрын

What is your objection to oil/fats?
@titaemira5 жыл бұрын
Oil is a not an wholesome product, basically it is pure fat.. no protein, no fiber. I think this is why many vegans choose not to use oil but still use fat in their wholesome form (nuts, seeds, avocados)

Pleeease don’t be scared of healthy fats and just use some olive oil to fry your onions. The flavour is completely different and you just cannot “fry” anything in water
@bendodson99785 жыл бұрын
Olive oil is not a healthy fat and we should avoid it as much as possible, anyone not sure about this should check out Mic the Vegan's video on the topic.
@d_xnii5 жыл бұрын
Ben Dodson that couldn’t be less true
@bendodson99785 жыл бұрын
Also I'm baffled how you could think you can't fry with water, Caitlin demonstrates it in the video
@d_xnii5 жыл бұрын
Ben Dodson you can’t “fry” with water, you literally can’t, it doesn’t bring out the same flavour or caramelise the same. there’s a reason why chefs fry in oil - because of how it brings the flavour out and lubricates the pan, and you CANNOT get the same effect with water
