My law school sent out an email after the October attacks talking about being staunchly pro Israel and the money they spend and intense ties they have with supporting Israel and if it wasn't my last semester I would've seriously considered leaving. I was pissed they'd send me that bs via email trying to support such wrongs while galavanting around that they're trying to fix institutional racism and poverty (the school is in Baltimore)

You sharing your story about being cyber stalked is a wake up call. I am being stalked by someone who harmed me as a child. Vandalized my door, posting signs in my residence, smearing my name, nasty rumors , neighbors have noticed his obsession with me. Stalking is psychological warfare used to weaken you, to strip you of your power of emotional and intellectual fortitude, so you won't be on the offensive. If you are being stalked, being on the defense isn't helpful. I hope the abuse stops. But the purpose of an order or protection is so that if violence escalates there was a paper trail/ EVIDENCE to justify you standing your ground. Hopefully this is never escalates past cyber terrorism, but my darling you live in Texas. You are an American, consider exercising your second amendment rights. Being stalked is supposed to feel demoralizing, Mark is threatened by your power and wants you to feel as powerless as he feels. It's a lot of folks sent to early graves because they didn't condone violence but the perpetrators sure did. STOP PLAYING WITH YOUR LIFE KIMBERLY!

I like your point about awareness vs. lying/ exploitation/continuing patterns while opposing them - it reminds me of one of my favorite quotes- people don't do bad or evil for the sake of evil but for the goodness they seek. A lot of people think people intentionally are bad when most people seek good for themselves which may and are usually bad for others. It makes conflict that much more complicated but also explains why so many people are comfortable doing "bad" things. Life centers around perception and perspective.

I think you can only do one thing -either climb up the ladder of a conservative institution or push progressive ideals. I think we have to keep that in mind when critiquing Claudine Gay.

Re: not giving bad actors any interaction - I think a lot of people have the impulse to want to rebut hateful bullshit, which makes sense. I think, though, many people don't realize that "don't interact" isn't some sort of moral framework or a belief about what works. We *know* that deplatforming is better. There have been studies that show that the most effective way to stop bad faith bullshit in its tracks is to not interact. People don't seem to realize it's based in legitimate research, not just personal opinion, unfortunately.

1:09:00 At the moment I am reading Lina Sunseri's Being Again of One Mind: Oneida Women and the Struggle for Decolonization in which she references Palestinian women and feminist muslim women living in islamic nation hoods to express an observation she recognizes as the 'our women' speech within nationalist discourses. That is, what it means to employ 'our women' is to project the cultural and socio-political ideals of nationalist movements onto women belonging to nations. So, Claudine Gay being a Haitian woman upholding a settler colonial state and the irony of that becomes more deeply intertwined in the matrix of domination considering the burden women of nationalist movements bare on behalf of the pursuit of cultural progressiveness. Though I wanted to point this out as well as talk about Being Again of One Mind, it's not to suggest Claudine Gay should be criticized less for her upholding of israel. Rather I want to be thoughtful about the narratives going on beneath the surface of our critiques.

Yeh I saw that too. I’m over in the war zones fighting for the girls so that whole black manosphere I’m familiar with . If they didn’t take his account I’m even more confused about how CynG got taken because she wasn’t threatening anyone and I myself had my initial account terminated and I don’t even make content and keep my commentary within the guidelines I’m still in favor of using his addie and sending the Harvard goon squad 😮😮😮😮

You don't condone violence, but does ask yourself this? Does that man value his freedom? You don't condone something you are on the receiving end of??? Legal advice when you being stalked won't stop the harassment from escalating. I'm not condoning violence, just a gentle reminder that Earth is a treacherous terrain, and humans are the only animals on the planet that think that being above the violence we are receiving is "noble." Self preservation is the number one law of the land and Mark don't care about your attorneys or KZbin.

How did Palestine become the clarion call for liberation for Black people? Given all of the other atrocities and horrors in the world, specifically in Africa like Sudan and Congo, how did this become it for us? These atrocities aren't confined to Israel and Palestine. I fully support their liberation, but as Black women I think this is something we need to think about and understand for ourselves, particularly as we lend our voices and support. I view Israel/Palestine the same way I view George Floyd: if he were a Black woman named Georgina Floyd we wouldn't be here, and BLM wouldn't have happened nor received the kind of support and global outcry that it did. Let's not erase or ignore the atrocities of other places that aren't deemed geopolitically relevant.

I don't know. I've been asking myself the same question, most especially when South Africa decided to be the defender of Palestine. As someone from the continent who hears about the massacre currently going on in Sudan I see how that gets not much coverage or concern because as you so perfectly said it, it's not geopolitically relevant. And at the same time that does not mean that I don't empathize with Palestine either. I think the atrocities going on are horrible. But it feels like there's this unspoken understanding out there that as a black person you must always choose sides with others who are oppressed (because we were oppressed so therefore automatically you must always be the defender of everybody else's rights but for everybody else it's optional), Jews were once oppressed (so one must tread carefully in their criticisms of them for fear of being labeled antisemitic) & Palestinians are currently oppressed (so you should naturally be in the forefront for their liberation), no matter what it is it's like damned if you do and damned if you don't (I.e. you can't just be neutral if you want to take time to make a decision). Whew! I hope that made sense lol

This was addressed several times in the video so I'm curious if you made this comment before watching the video in it's entirety? Liberation is not isolated to one group and the power structures that allow for Black women to be harmed are the same power structures that have created a genocide.... None of these things are mutually exclusive or isolated and to only stand for one part means there is no liberation for all.
@TreniaP
@TreniaP 5 ай бұрын
@@BlackaFeministCollective I get that, but if it’s not solely about one group why are all of the conversations about Palestine and not other groups that are experiencing atrocities and genocide? I’m not saying it’s not connected, my point was how did Palestine essentially become the symbol of the need for liberation for Black people? It’s not a got you kind of moment, it’s a real question that I’ve been asking myself.

This is a slight criticism of your stalking case. I’m confused on why it’s necessary to get a high cost copyright lawyer with the exception of his gf claims he isn’t coming at you over using material of his . I’m probably missing something but I’m a simple girl so bear with me . I too have been a victim of stalking via online and in real life. I know people like to post life events and romantic partners online but as a victim you don’t have that luxury. I have ashewed dating mainly for this. I didn’t want to involve anyone else in my situation. I didn’t think it was fair to a prospective partner. I had tried dating one man whom my stalker reached out to. His attempts were successful and we agreed to go our separate ways. I found out that I couldn’t ever have respect for a man who wasn’t going to go all out to protect me. I understood why he ended our relationship but it did shatter my illusion of men as a protecter in general. I’m afraid this could happen in your relationship since you’ve been adamant about him being hands off. He is going to have to work through you not letting him fulfill what we’ve been taught is the responsibility of the man in a patriarchal society.
