I can definitely enjoy the movie to this day, but ya it is the weakest in the trilogy. I wish Sam Raimi got to do his Spider-Man 4 movie as I think it would've been great from what we heard.
@DatPRGuy20178 күн бұрын
Sounds like a skill issue on your end lol. This game isn't great I'll agree but stuff like the frame rate is subjective since I had perfect FPS outside one cutscene As for the open world, not gonna defend Treyarch but this was an early PS3/360 open world game and the systems were known to be notorious to handle with. It's why the more impressive open worlds released from 2008 going. Doesn't help that unlike GTA 4 or Assassin's Creed 2 (games which also released in the early PS3 era) where you're mostly on ground, from a game dev standpoint in Spider-Man you have to account for speed and transitioning from ground to air. That's why games like Spider-Man 2 or Web of Shadows don't look impressive visual wise cause trying to load in high quality assets with impressive speed levels is a nightmare or in the case of something like Ultimate Spider-Man, Shattered Dimensions or the first Amazing Spider-Man game where the visuals are a higher priority, the traversal is nerfed so that loading the assets isn't a pain of the development side. It took till Marvel's Spider-Man 2 to have a Spider-Man game that has both high quality visuals and exhilarating gameplay (Marvel's Spider-Man doesn't count cause Insomniac themselves said they capped that game's swing speed so it could run smoothly on the PS4). Plus Treyarch had to cut a lot of stuff for the game to even work. This and Spider-Man 2 are like the only Spider-Man games where you can enter most buildings without loading screens. In Spider-Man 3 that's expanded on with the Subways and Sewers. Realistically there should be more detail in the Subways since it's a busy place irl but because alpha versions of the game ran at like 11 FPS, corners were cut Still on the topic of swinging, as I said it's a skill issue on your end cause i engaged with it and was alright. The issue again comes from what I stated (making an open world with a character who moves super fast), that and Treyarch tried to blend aspects of the Spider-Man 2 system (webs sticking to buildings, loop-de-loops, charged jumps) and Ultimate Spider-Man (double jumps, more bouncy camerawork) but it doesn't work because Spider-Man 2 was "realistic" and Ultimate was comicbooky and Spider-Man 3 tries to be realistic visual wise so these ideas clash The most annoying thing about the game are the QTEs. I manage to see some post 07 interviews with one of the devs and he didn't like it either. They were mandated by Marvel and Activision because of the success of GOW That as well as the enemy/health balancing. The actual combat isn't bad because there is some combos you can pull off both on ground and air (most reused from Spider-Man 2) but the issue is from the fact that basic enemies are wayy too annoying to deal with especially the Asian gang who can counter ait attacks plus Spidey's health goes down too fast which makes combat feel frustrating. The rare times the enemies aren't frustrating, it's cool finding out the combos
@DatPRGuy20178 күн бұрын
This game ultimately was a poor victim of being an early PS3/360 release, Treyarch making multiple titles at the same time and several devs and mechanics leaving (There's videos and articles about that). In another world, it could've been the X-Men Origins of Spider-Man games (good game based on lacklustre movie) especially with the cut ideas but unfortunately we have to face reality
@IndustrialGamer7 күн бұрын
Hey dude, I do think I did my absolute best in being objective and fair to the game. Some of the issues I pointed out and discussed can be easily seen in the gameplay such as rapid camera movement, framerate issues, etc. I played this originally on my launch model Xbox 360 which admittedly can show these issues more severely, but due to lack of an HDMI input I can't capture from it so this gameplay is from my Xbox 360 S instead, which is more stable when handling these games. While anyone can get good at any game provided they spend time with it, respectively I really don't think I'm that inept that the crux of my issues was due to lack of skill. But I must agree that it being an early Gen 7 title probably exacerbated these issues and it would've greatly benefited from more development time (likely forced out with the movie itself). Treyarch was clearly being spread way too thin by Activision, but I also mentioned this later in the review. Despite your disagreements here, I sincerely hope you enjoyed the content nonetheless.

Regarding this topic, I have not seen anything else outside of what's in this thread. It's possible KZbin flagged it for whatever reason but nothing shows up in my Held for Review section either. I still use my trusty favorite pen & small size notebook paper, then I take a pic of each page & store them in my phone within a "Games List" category. I don't care what each game, guide book & console is worth because I have no plans to ever sell them, so all I catalog is the items left to acquire. The beauty of having a analog style hand written list is your not handicapped if your internet goes down, like it did for me last week for 3 whole days. And by lovingly writing them all down you retain the memory more of what you have & what you are going after.

Mirror's Edge is DICE's love. They were so passionate about the original game if you go into it's archives which EA has an original website for it You can find an interview where you can see their production struggles and how studio believing the project and that's why the character's name was FAITH. You can see how they loved this game. I feel sad when they forced to make Battlefield games only. By the way they are from Sweden so Mirror's Edge was some kind of a mirror to their unique cultural background and design tastes. That's why the game was so great looking with that atmosphere and minimalism. They will eventually return to it and when they do I want a Mirror's Edge 2 and not just a sequel to Catalyst which was actually what happened with Devil May Cry 4 and series had a reboot with the game DmC and it ruined everything shocked everyone and then they have returned with Devil May Cry 5 and made it fan service and got all the points back. I hope Mirror's Edge one day Art Directed by Johannes Soderqvist again hopefully will emerge and save us from the boredom of this world once again.

Why Mirror's Edge is not loved by the mainstream I don't understand. It truly shows how most people has no sense of art and atmosphere at all. If everybody loved what this game offers our society as planet would skyrocket instead of playing 90000 hours of Valorant. By the way Catalyst was a bad one. Johannes Söderqvist is the best Art Director to make it right other guy just ruined it they made once a minimalist and otherworldly immersive world a confused cyberpunk knock-off. But Mirror's Edge idea was so powerful that even the ruined Catalyst still looks way better than most of the AAA games. I hope for the next game Johannes art direct the game again.

what a beautiful, clean, console collection :) "I like to keep things stock. OEM. That's the style i like." From your lips, to God's ears. I remember being this way with pretty much every retail product, since purchasing my 1991 Acura Legend Coupe, back in the day. Maybe because i grew up in the car hobby as a kid, and my Dad always kept his cars pristine, original. A handicap/curse.. Contrary to popular opinion, i agree with you on the Xbox One being a very attractive design. I purchased the S, but caved and upgraded to the One X (Cyberpunk 2077 Limited Edition) partially because i feared the white would "yellow" over time. That said, the standard black Xbox One X (and that Project Scorpio Edition) looks impressive enough on it's own merits, to want to own one. I can't handle the looks of the PS4. LoL. Unfortunately, I'm in the minority, on this one. I regard the original PS3 Slim (black), to be the most beautiful console of all-time. Its basically the only console model, i don't own a limited edition or alternate factory color iteration of, because IMO it's already aesthetically perfect. That said, mine wasn't reliable at all. Like yourself, i "baby" my consoles, and played my launch unit very sparingly. One day it wouldn't recognize or eject a disc, or any discs thereafter. The only thing i may have done wrong, is leaving that same disc in the console over a period of weeks to months? Without ever ejecting it.. Bottomline: I don't trust the build quality of the PS3. With the PS3 Super Slim being a possible exception (no motorized disc tray). Your backwards compatible PS3 model, is a thing of beauty. I know EXACTLY how you feel, in regards to preserving and safe-guarding it. Non-abused units don't come cheap, in addition to the sentimental value it holds for you. The only downside being having to hand it off, if you need to take that route (ie making those capacitor modifications). However, I'm certain you'll make a temporary cabinet switch, before turning it over to a stranger/repair modder. I feel ya, because I had purchased a pristine boxed Net Yaroze (that rare factory black PS1), and ended up returning it via Ebay, because it had somewhat minor laser issues. No way was I going to entrust it to some shop I had no familiarity with. Congrats on that new/open box PSP unit. What a deal! Also, hope work life is picking up. Take care Cam.

Thanks so much for watching and commenting Vin. I agree largely with your points on those console designs, although I did like the launch PS4 model as mentioned. I get anxiety seeing how some of these people treat their consoles/games. I personally know some people who just leave their hardware on the floor in a mess of cables. I guess it's akin to never washing your car. In any case, happy to share this one. Take care!
