The "fast set" isn't good because it relies more on your achilles and not your calves when you bounce up and down. You can do it at a faster tempo but you always need to pause at the bottom

I was in a competitive move the night I tried this. When he was out of air I'd breathe in pride like a bastard. When he does 8 I do 16, when he speeds 16 and starts the next 8 I do up to 32. I can't even stand straight now. That was four nights ago.

The best way to mount a pipe up there is to use what’s called a handrail flange… You can take a chisel or if you have access to one a hole, saw and cut a little pocket into the wood to recess it for added strength. But basically what it does is you have the end of the pipe threaded and then you screw the flange on there and when you get ready to attach it to the wood you attach it to the wood with four leg screws. If you chisel out a circle for it to sit in, that’s about an inch deep, there is no way it can ever come out, but you still have that flange to where the pipe can never turn because the threads only allow the pipe to turn one way. Put a little red or green Loctite on the threads when you set them and it will never turn. The green Loctite is so permanent. It normally takes heating with a torch to get it off. They use it to keep gun barrels in place. A handrail flange for 1 inch pipe cost maybe $3-5 dollars last time I checked so they’re not real expensive. Also, if you wanna save digging an extra hole and buying an extra piece of wood, you can get double duty out of one of the poles for your pull up bar and use it as one of the supports for your parallel bars… There’s no reason why you can’t use the end support for your pull up bar as one of the supports for one end of your parallel bars and that saves you a whole post at a hole full of concrete. And it just makes the entire situation even more strong and resilient to movement because now it’s braced in multiple directions.

Doing calf raises repeatedly doesn't work the calves very well. It relies on the elasticity of the Achilles tendon. You half to do calf raises with a pause at the bottom if you wanna see so real changes.
